  6. 47 years ago to almost the minute, 45318 was charging down Aughton Bank at nearly 80 mph, straight into the history books. The end of a glorious era indeed.

  9. 6 years on from release I've finally caved in and bought a couple of "Tommys". Not sure how they'll fit on an ScR layout mind....

A lot further North than the Casino Club. Keep the faith!

  12. A1 and a Lord Nelson last week and an A4 to enjoy on Sunday. Still incredible to think we can enjoy such sights in 2015.

It certainly is. I'm spoilt here in the summer months with everything that passes by on the mainline.

  13. Aboard a six car 158. Don't recall seeing one of these since the Turbocrappers were inflicted on is circa 2000.

  14. About to order my D11, but the question is whether to also 'shove duff' or not to shove duff? Decisions....

  15. About to tuck into a full English courtesy of East Coast - first time in some years we;ve had proper catering ex Aberdeen!

  16. After being a member for almost 2 years I've only just found the "View New Content" option! Oh dear... Still, makes reading RMweb easier!

  17. After initial experimentation with a Bach/Far starter set, the concept of running scale length expresses on an area no larger than the dining room table is gaining enthusiasm. This N gauge lark could prove addictive.

Not too bad, but at the moment my only stock is bogie coaches. Four wheel wagons may prove more of a challenge. I've a Farish A2, some stock and more track in the post and a baseboard will hopefully follow shortly. I'm looking at 6 x 3' with perhaps an extension to 8' if space presents itself. With a board of that size I can have a good run of track (roundy/roundy) and more than adequate siding space.

Those couplings put me off even though the locos and rolling stock seem much improved recently.

I think the attraction is the fact that you can have scale length trains and have a layout that looks more like the real railway. And coaches and diesels are really good quality. When I look at the pictures of the steam engines though i have questions. To be fair I think they look better in the flesh so to speak though.

  18. After literally years of searching I've finally got my hands on an NB Models J37 kit.

  19. After much abuse about the current model, the opportunity has presented itself and the question is: to go to iphone or not to go to iphone?

    1. devondynosoar118

      devondynosoar118

All other smart phones have one thing in common, they are simply not an iPhone! Can't afford one....

      SNCF stephen

devondynosoar118 hit the nail on the head. In history the iPhone will be remembered as the iPhone and everything else is just that. Everything else...

For some, however the quintessential NBR loco - J37 - is no longer available as a kit. I've spent years looking for one at shows and on ebay and still with no success.

Kits are the only option, CK. No real problem for the likes of me, but a serious hindrance for the less technically able.

  22. All WHL trains cancelled tomorrow in their entirety, First aren't even pretending to adopt a wait and see policy, and no replacement buses either. How nice of them.

  23. Am I alone in feeling that individuals who quote in any fashion that damn meerkat advert should be shot on sight?
