  1. Did my Heljan MK1's at the weekend with Railtec Transfers. First time I have used them and won't be the last. Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr
  2. All very interesting, will certainly be following this. I am thinking about a small diorama for my few bits, but then we;re moving house soon and the garden needs work.......... Al.
  3. Looking forward to seeing 407 now Brian. 901 looks excellent.
  4. Well, not much progress to report, have been lacking motivation and still waiting on transfers for the 26. However a little progress yesterday with something else. I couldn't very well just have the 26 so after an opportunity to acquire a Heljan MK1 for a reasonable price I have been keeping my eye out for a couple more. Yesterday I spent some time numbering and branding them: Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan MK1s by endoftheroad, on Flickr They've now gone to a friend for some dirt. I other news I picked up another 26 body which is in the process of getting stripped. 5. I think i'll be using some modellers license and just matching numbers with coach types but using SC prefixes and ScotRail branding. I've a couple of 'combined volumes' to refer to for stock based at Inverness & Cowlairs. I think there are a few shots of loco's on either a Perth or Dundee 'running in' turn with loco's that have come off works, here is rather clean 26005 & 26029 both putting in an appearance on the Perth job: https://www.flickr.com/photos/140157320@N04/25033006912/in/album-72157664742981331/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/140157320@N04/24524397603/in/album-72157664742981331/ Cheers, Al.
  6. I've also just stubblled accross this thread whist looking for some numbers to put on my Heljan MK1's. They need to be Scottish MK1's with ScotRail branding but all I seem to be able to identify is coaches with Scottish numbers but cannot see if they've been branded! Anyway, another one to add to the list of SC prefix numbers off my Dad's Flickr: SC14001https://www.flickr.com/photos/140157320@N04/24521129983/in/album-72157664319282660/
  7. As Cameron says, he's helped keep up my motivation with my Heljan 26 and I'm hopefully helping motivate him too (and somehow building ended up agreeing to create some buildings). There is another project about to start somewhat inspired by being involved in this layout but more of that maybe next weekend. Had a great couple of days at Rudyard learning new control equipment and playing with O gauge for a change, think I have got the bug. Saturday we had a little more assistance so I spent most of the day with a pile of foam board and plasticard, not 100% yet but the bones of the new signalbox have been created: IMG_0305 by endoftheroad, on Flickr IMG_0304 by endoftheroad, on Flickr And just for good measure a couple of others of the layout: IMG_0310 by endoftheroad, on Flickr IMG_0316 by endoftheroad, on Flickr Cheers for now. 8. Growing up in Exeter 37's on the bullets, HST drags and the summer Saturday EBW sets producing with pairs of 31's or 47's were somewhat staples! I thought there were shots of pairs of 31's on EBW sets in Dad's collection the only one I can find is 47665 in Goodrington on top of a DVT (there is a 31 in the background mind!).
  9. With a pair of BR blue (oil covered) 31's at the helm!!
  10. This is looking fantastic Steve, many a happy memory thrashing along the Sea Wall growing up. Something a bit more modern would be my interest mind, a nice ratty dutch Canton 37 dragging a stricken HST maybe.............
  11. Those 26's look mighty fine! Are they Railtec Transfers? Just waiting a response on mine, need the DCE logo's on top of the other bits.
  12. Well that's scuppered my plans to get out of 4mm scale!
  13. Its a bit different but I only kept the sides of the tank on my 26 (well part of it!) and built a new tank and beams out of platicard sticking the salvaged bits off the Heljan tanks.
  14. Bill, his name was Alec Tait, I'm pretty sure he lived in Churnside, I unfortunately didn't know him that well as he past away in an accident on the Berwick by-pass in 83/84. I think Dad has a couple more pictures somewhere but he can't find them! This is the same train being prepped - I think at Dunns, but I can't be sure! 15. Thanks Ian, I'm fits & bursts with this too. Finally got round to the buffer beams this afternoon. Starting to get towards the end now. Grills to paint/fix and then gloss for the body & cab interiors to sort. Heljan O Gauge 26 by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan O Gauge 26 by endoftheroad, on Flickr
  16. Lee if you get anywhere with this and need to do a minimum order I'd gladly have a couple if it helps. I've got the bug now and will be on the lookout for another one!
  17. I've been very nervous about doing this but it is coming along OK, all be it slowly! Though it seems I am talking to myself most of the time, seeing the view counter going up is helping to keep my motivation! I will finish this project in the coming weeks (maybe months?) This mornings progress has included re-fitting the fuel tanks & the air tanks. I've also been painting the cab bulk heads and modifying the Heljan ploughs ready for paint. I hope to have the buffer beams back together by the end of the weeknd baring air brake pipes which I need to order, the Heljan model only having buffer beam pipework suitable for a vac brake/steam heat loco. Still a bit to go but starting to come together! Heljan O Gauge 26 by endoftheroad, on Flickr
  18. Apologies from me also Steve, I will continue to wait patiently & promise not to bother you.
  19. I think what our friend here is actually looking for is photos of 33114 in NSE paired with a Dutch 33 on ballast. Not such an easy search as you might think. I have just searched ‘33114 ballast’ and come up with one shot if it coming off the Barny Branch at Cowley Bridge on its ow man but not in a pair. Should have said that was a google image search not Flickr. Image here: http://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/exeter-to-barnstaple-and-ilfracombe.html
  20. Some nice shots in the snow. didn't realise 33103 had gone back to departmental grey, looks good. Did you get my PM re ticket 3797? Just ordered some gloss varnish for my 26!
  21. Starting to come together now. I decided today that I was as happy as I am going to be with the blue so it was time to take the masking tape off! Considering this is my first proper foray into 7mm and my first full blow loco re-paint I am pretty happy how this has turned out so far. Some bits have bled in places but I should be able to tidy them up without too much bother. Its actually come out better than I expected, it will be pretty filthy when I finally get it finished. 22. Amazing what natural light does, it looks much better in the garden this morning. Heljan O Gauge 26 Body Blue by endoftheroad, on Flickr
