  3. Hi Scott, T'was looking at a youtube clip a couple of days ago where a US modeller used Model Scene (?) products that were of a mat type of thing and various colours and layered them to create a bushy lineside effect. Worked very well. If I can manage to find in the next couple of hours I will post a link. It may be of help to you! Khris
  4. Thanks for the responses guys...been great! All my books are boxed and taped up ready for a move that was hoped to happen on selling of the house! Alas a week after putting it on the market Covid 19 and it's subsequent restrictions have happened....mutter, mutter Did the Stars run with a 8 wheel tender?? Didn't think there were many of them around at the best of times, but could stand corrected. Khris
  5. You would want them washed out thoroughly first though, or it would be a bit of a **itty situation! Khris
  6. I have 2 of these started and stopped. Once we sell, and get into our new place I "may" look at them again........and I thought it was just me! Talk of disillusioning.....but we soon learn! Khris
  7. Hi, I have picked up a kit of the above. Anyone here built one? Pitfalls/inaccuracies to watch out for? Couldn't find a thread here on it but wonder if there was one on the old site that anyone may have saved! Khris
  8. For Ian, (Crisis Rail) At the end of the day...remember, this is a hobby. It involves all sorts of skills from making models/ trackwork/ scenery/ buildings/ figures/ electronics. They are skills some of us have, anything from none to all and anywhere inbetween, but at the end of the day we Enjoy, and share our experiences, be it on this or other threads! Enjoy it for what it is....a place to share our hobby and learn new skills along the way! Khris
  9. Hattons Dave, Could we impose on you to notify us via this thread please when you start to relist second hand items please? Khris
  10. Remember: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! The works depicted in this thread are brilliant! Of course YOU can always up the ante.......... Khris
  11. You could also try Steam Era Models in Oz to see if you can get what you are after! Khris
  12. I had a link once for enamelled signs available to print...alas I didn't keep it but did print some. Alas they have been damaged so I need to access them again. Any hints as to where to find them please? Khris
  13. If you are trying to replicate the front like the pic you posted, you could try a darker shade on maroon on the lower sections, then do the painted sections in a gloss varnish spray. Really depends on what you want to achieve. Gold lining on that would look brilliant! khris
  14. For the ignorant....how do they operate their points please? Khris
  15. Any updates on your modelling or am I missing them somewhere? Khris
  16. What makes you say that Ian? khris
  17. A good way to double check track when laying is to use a mirror. Amazing what it shows up! Khris
  18. Wouldn't you have to first look at how far the truck/car developed during the war years as opposed to how quickly they would have developed otherwise. Just that alone would have a big bearing on how the railways developed and/ or lost traffic after the war! Khris
  19. Simple remedy! Make your own in styrene.....it is not hard! In this case either make one for 2 tracks if the spacing is uniform, or make one to do all the tracks at once of the spacing is not uniform! khris Khris
