  1. Jon, The coach in this pic....Has it bowed up at the ends or isn't it on a flat surface? The other question....Do you get much shrinkage with the resin? Khris
  2. I realise that this is Toms thread and I hope he doesn't mind my suggestion BUT, I think that this whole post should be in a highlighted color so that anyone reading or referred to this thread can find this post easily. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing it. Khris
  3. Sorry Tom but none of the icons are suitable...That is a WOW!!!!! Khris
  4. My experience of doing this is that it tends to dry out the joint and make the surrounding plastic brittle! There again there are plastics and plastics I suppose. Hence I haven't tried it on these coaches I am currently working on. Khris
  5. Further to this. How hard is it in the package. I have a box of it but am unsure whether I bought it 7 years ago while in the Uk or later and have found it hardish with one lot with like a crust on it! (colour..terracotta) It feels dried out...is this correct or out of date? Khris
  6. Another question if I may! What diagram is the Bachmann Collett based on please? tried the search but am not having much luck.....probably using the wrong words Khris
  7. Hi, Do you get much if any shrinkage with Milliput? Khris
  8. Question all, What do you use as a filler when doing cut and shuts? I have seen Milliput mentioned. I have been using Tamiya, but wondered if there was anything better for the job. I find the Tamiya has a very short work period. Khris
  9. Quick search of Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Farming+in+the+Uk+in+the+40%27s AND having reread your question here is the 30's: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Farming+in+the+UK+in+the+30%27s
  10. Scott, Offhand I don't now your era BUT, there was 3 BBC series about the following: The Victorian Farm The Edwardian Farm The Wartime Farm You may find info on Youtube. They also produced 3 books about the series and how 3 people spent 12 months living in each of these scenarios. Probably find the books at the library with luck! khris
  11. Hi John, What video's are these please? Are they on Youtube or elsewhere? Khris
  12. Hi 81C< Thanks for that but I already have these and it doesn't answer the question/s I raised. Thanks Penrhos1920....I think I will go as best I can. If people don't agree with it THEY can change it for me :onthequiet: Khris
  13. Hi all, A question while I have started to detail the underframes, I am now in a quandry. When you have Brake thirds r/h and l/h, The battery boxes are at the Brake end, BUT what about the dynamo and the brake cylinders......are they reversed. ie D118 dynamo under compartment side. So when I do the opposite type is the dynamo still under the compartment side?? Just on another thing, the handles on the sides of the coaches at the ends....In preservation are they still the same length or do they get altered. Again cannot always tell off old pics and when I look at pics of preserved coaches some are short where other coaches or the era are long. Can get quite confusing especially if you have not grown up with them in your life (UK railways that is) TIA Khris
  14. Scott, Two things come to mind when I look at the last pic, that you say looks fictional. !) The rocks look to grey to me, and I wonder whether if they were toned down possibly with a brown, whether it wouldn't help. 2) On the R/H side it almost looks like the rocks have been cutoff with 1 piece further down. BUT: Overall I reckon the scenery is looking brilliant and natural! khris
  15. Hi, Just putting this out there is case someone has one in their junk or spare box. I am looking for about half of one of these coaches. (Collett Restaurant coach) If you have one that has been cutup for whatever reason and want to sell the rest, and prepared to post to Australia (my expense) give me a yell! Khris
  16. WOW! What a different perspective! Khris
  17. Gordon< Are you sure you are not thinking of Redutex? http://www.redutex.com/ Also available from DCC concepts I believe. Khris
  18. Tom, I can't see why! When you consider if everything while moving is under tension, it would effectively be straight whether it be going along a straight or around a curve. It really depends on whether it bothers YOU at the end of the day. Just something to think about. Khris
  19. Tom, I was going to make the same comment as St Enodoc. If you think about it , it shouldn't alter the way you operate your stock as all you are doing is making the links rigid, which is how they are under strain anyway! Actually I should think it would make it easier to use them if they are rigid, as you do not have the hassles of the loose links, while trying to couple up. Very much in the same vain as this: http://platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/index.php?threads/episode-105-18-the-gormo-3-link-coupling-system.2987/ Whether you glue or solder is a moot point. Khris
