I visited the Bodmin show yesterday and had a good look on the Kernow stand to see if they had any 4018's for sale in the hope that I could have a butchers, but there were non, so I assume any they received from Hornby have been sent out mail order.

I note that there has still been no update on the Steam website, is this likely to mean that they have not yet received them yet? I would have thought they would be shouting from the roof tops if they had, had them arrive.

I'm hoping that all the faults on the pre production models are sorted on the production run as I have pre ordered 2 Lode stars from Steam on the strength of the quality of the 28XX and Castle models. If they are too much of a dogs breakfast Steam may get them back.

From memory (not what it was) the shade of green between various units were very subtly different when coupled together, I assume this was down to paint variation in mixes, followed by weathering and washing. So was there an exact shade of green?

You get a similar noise when switching on the auxiliary compressor on an 08 shunter, brought back memories when I first heard one switched on, I looked around for an EMU.
Wheal Betsy on the western fringe of Dartmoor has an all stone chimney. It is viewable on the right hand side of the A386 between Mary Tavy and Lydford, it is also below road level, even to the top of the Chimney.

Hi Kris
Are the piers stuck down to the deck?
If not, and asssuming that you built the viaduct with trackbed flat along it's full length, you could sand down the tops of the viaduct side walls so that they are flush with the track bed and using some straight timber longer than the overall length of the viaduct clamp it at various spots along the viaduct between piers and then pack under each pier to make it all flat.

Yes I've been down the Brighton line once or twice with no lighting on in the various tunnels, us older kids use to frighten the life out of the littluns given half a chance.

We only had a 120 ton/sq inch double acting press (real Hydraulic, it used water and a set of weights). It had two main tasks, swaging boiler tubes, and pressing new tyres on to Mercury (small forward cab pick up) wheel hubs.

When I was in the 'yard as a boilermaker we used to use a punch and die on steel plate up to 3/8 inch thick. The thicker it was the rougher the finish got. They were either square holes with round corners up to an inch square or inch dia. The machine I believe disappeared under elf an safety, as it could also cut steel bar up to 3/4 inch dia and some idiot stuck his finger in one of the holes 1/2 or 5/8 and chopped the end of his finger off . Obviously there was no guard otherwise you couldn't get the plate or bar in it.

Hi Colin
You certainly have the abilities to move up to either EM or S4, S4 would allow some interworking on SMH with Old Lugger. I look forward to a new trainset build.
