  1. that's a shame, at best it means this livery may be delayed while the error is corrected, worse case scenario is the first batch will have errors, very worse case scenario is the entire production is halted while this error is corrected and Dapol miss the production slot
  2. New photos released by Rails showing the Compass livery....Dapol and Rails have produced a great looking model https://railsofsheffield.com/blogs/news/exclusive-oo-gauge-class-88-deco-sample Provided it works....Will get my vote for OO locomotive model of the year Shame about my bank balance...
  3. In that case put that pepper where you want it to do a poo....?
  4. Pepper powder discourages cats. Also consider putting a little fresh soil in a corner of the garden - it will poo there (instead of on your tracks)
  5. I have a Class 90 Bachmann I am breaking up. If anyone has (new tooling) Class 87 body shell to sell, I'm tempted to see if the two can be married. Please pm me Has anyone tried this yet?
  6. They could do both of course. But as you surely know the 87 has a wider range of liveries than an 81 and that's what makes a tooling profitable. The fact we haven't seen an 81 so far perhaps confirms it Mind you I wouldn't say no to a couple of 81s
  7. Is anyone else thinking the same thing...Bachmann could take a look at tooling up an 87 body shell to put on their Class 90 chassis but would there be a profit in it?
  8. Design centred around customer experience as opposed to profit. Removable roof for decoder fitting. Built in speakers Working pantographs.....well do you mean working as the plastic actually doesn't fall apart when you touch it (like on the APT?) I had to replace mine with Bachmann Class 85 pantographs Clever design makes customers smile and willing to suffer a bit more pain in their wallets. Also good quality models, you have the confidence of a good resale value when you let them go. This benefits Hornby as you come back for more good models with money from your resale. However I am sure Hornby know their niche and design and market accordingly.
  9. Brilliant news - the E656 is the loco I want to chip! This is a good step by Hornby and hopefully more will follow
  10. Hi Jim making sure the two surfaces are lined up and held in place and in line, I sprinkle with very fine talcum powder into the the joint, use a fine brush to get it into the gaps. Super glue on a cocktail stick - touch onto the talcum powder along the bottom edge of the coach, not the front it gets pulled in by capillary action, it does require a fine hand. Produces a very tough composite when hardened, which can be sanded down and primed. On the internal side prepare some superglue mixed with talcum powder - it makes a paste which sets fast but you can build a thick, tough layer across the internal seam. Again this is really tough - you may need a Dremel to sand it down Obviously try elsewhere first before trying on Mentor
  11. Thanks I already know about the UK locomotive profiles and enjoying the use of them but I am after sound profiles for continental models and I am assuming there should be some somewhere as Hornby are selling TXS sound decoders on their Rivarossi and Jouef websites (with advertising in the native language).
  12. I can find the sound profile list on Hornby website. Does anyone know about Rivarossi and Jouef?
  13. According to what I have read above...model trains can be considered tangible assets and are taxed accordingly? That should be an interesting argument with HMRC.
  14. Bachmann must have talked with GBRF and can see a good profit margin in multiple liveries, plus if they don't do the 69...who will?..... ....you may as well ask the question....will Hornby upgrade their super detail 56 with a 69 body shell? I would have thought that could be more likely - undercut Bachmann and make use of their 56 chassis tooling they had already developed...?
  15. Hi, perhaps this will be enought to tide you over?
  16. For all if you who want a screw https://g.co/kgs/urvRJs8 Clerkenwell screws in Farringdon is the place to go. You take one screw in, they find another 1000 to match and the prices are sensible
  17. Now on sale for £139 on the Hornby website
  18. When replacing capacitors, I snip the legs off to about 2mm and solder to the snips left behind. This spares the tracks
  19. Seems crazy Drax would miss an opportunity of cheap advertising saving 10s of thousands of £££...for the sake of making a few quid from the sale of the wagons?
  20. Nothing really, just twiddling my thumbs until the order book opens...👍
  21. That's very interesting, because there have been a few news stories of commuter buses bursting into flames in the Uk and round Europe...perhaps not using the same Lithium technology one assumes?
  22. That seems a bit scary to have potentially explosive Lithium batteries alongside gallons of diesel...Don't those batteries also require super cooling to prevent degradation?
