  1. Telerail DVDs - highly recommended as a source of inspiration in 12" to the foot scale and for modelling.

Agreed, but I find the constant background music that is a source of irritation and spoils the enjoyment. The same applied to the Model Rail DVD`s.

  2. It’s the first Leyland MRC show this weekend for some years...after helping get stuff ready and being a member of the club, I’m feeling somewhat nervous!

Many thanks both, yesterday went really well and with the poor weather today we’re already doing good.

  3. It would appear after a trans-Atlantic flight home and a bout of illness, I slept for 12 hours. I’ve wasted half a day but feel much better!

  4. Went out for a leisurely bike ride, until a bin lorry overtook me and carried far too much speed towards a sharp bend. It rolled. Everyone’s ok thankfully...stay safe on your push irons people.

TUT TUT @ Bourneagain! I all to well remember a cement lorry that "turned left" and clipped the curb as it did so. People were very much not "alright" after that one :(

  5. In the morning, you know we won’t remember a thing

  6. A certain green celebrity kettle (60103) is running from York to Bury (ELR) today, travelling via Hellifield and Preston and Wigan!? Very odd route but it means I’ll see it, maybe in reverse too.

Is the triangle at Castletown out of use ?

  7. Today’s lesson learned is don’t give up on something unless you’ve exhausted all other options. A decoder function output wasn’t working, so I took out the decoder and just as I was about to chop off the dead lead to make it a motor only decoder, I found the lead had become detached from the decoder. A simple bit of soldering and it’s good as new.

  13. Despite the minortity, the majority always succeed. RMweb remains a source of inspiration, and after having a good browse of the site, I've found some absolute gems of ideas and photos and videos which I'd missed or overlooked

This is the Internet , you'll a,ways find nutcases, keyboard warriors and gobsh&tes. However try an aircraft spotters page to see real friction

You can take or leave what you want from the internet (RMweb included), you don't have to get embroiled in all of it. I avoid as much as I can anything that I know might rile me, and only very infrequently do I get 'caught out'.

A couple of good suggestions there; my own method is to put something interesting on to listen to on the radio, and make sure I'm at non-back-straining angle of lean.

I did a whole baseboard of points and sidings but I put the board up on it's side on the bench so one could just sit at it and paint then turn it over for the other side.
