  1. We must be grateful for small mercies these days....... Thanks to Richard & Co for listening to the many requests for bogies, especially Commonwealths and B4s. If he does monitor these posts, early liveries for the 100t tanks are needed for Christmas!
  2. Shouldn't the announcement be next week, maybe Wednesday?
  3. Soldering to code 55 is no problem.
  4. There's a video of an engineering prototype on the N Gauge Forum.
  5. I'm aware of guards not being required on most fitted freights from 1969, but did this apply to parcels and mail trains, or was a BG or similar vehicle required too?
  6. It's N-gauge Chris. You'll find some nice pictures on the N Gauge News site.
  7. In view of the impending Sonic Models J50, I'd appreciate some info regarding their use around London. 1. Were they used on Kings Cross empty stock workings, or just freight? 2. When venturing to the Southern Region on cross-London freights, did they wear SR route discs? Thanks in anticipation.

    J94 in O gauge

Does this mean an N-gauge J94 is on the way too? Just joking, but seriously, what about it Dapol?
  9. They're a must for N. I've contacted Revolution on the matter. Don't the OO ones look great?
  10. Have you checked the back to back measurement? I've found that even the smallest piece of glued ballast remaining on point blades can cause problems in N gauge.
  11. True, Grahame, but the Peco chassis for the kits are just not up to scratch for 2022 ; won't the plastic wheels have to be replaced and isn't painting, gloss varnishing, applying transfers and matt varnishing required too? I've also found that the Peco chassis is wider than the Farish ones, so somebody's dimensions are at variance with the prototype. In my view there's no contest and Farish win hands down.
  12. Just had a brief look at the Precision Paints site. Didn't find Ice Blue but LNER Marlborough Blue could be suitable.
  13. Sorry about forgetting the 44; I've slapped my wrist. Now a Deltic with beefy speakers might just get me wobbling towards DCC! But how would I conceal it from SWMBO?
  14. Us ''DC dinosaurs'' are just being realistic with our finances. OK, I appreciate the advantages of DCC ,but with an established layout and quite a few locos, changing systems is not an option for me. I simply can't justify DCC prices when there's a perfectly good DC choice available. I'd like to add the Classes 25/3, 45 and 46 to Hailstone's list of ''musts'' for Bachmann to go for and live in hope that they study this forum.
  15. The brake vans were full of police ready to nab villains pinching car radios en route from Dagenham. The trains would often stop on the North London Line where the thieves would jump on.
  16. Apparently some of new batch of 9Fs have arrived at Rails.
  17. Wow, that'll be an impressive train. Does it represent a particular working? Apologies if I've missed this earlier.
  18. I seem to remember a J94 being on the cards a while back. I'd think a resurrection of that would be popular.
  19. Sorry, I don't get your point about little choice of steam power. A quick glance at the Farish and Dapol websites will show quite a few.......
  20. I haven't been too successful recently with soldering wires to nickel-silver rails. I've used a Chinese jelly flux and lead-free solder with my 25W iron. I found it easier previously using an acid-type liquid flux which unfortunately caused corrosion of tag-strip terminals. Can anyone help with the ideal materials for this job.
  21. I'm thinking particularly of the Siphon at the moment, plus the HUO , as both these Accurascale OO models are on my wishlist. Having had a (presumably) successful tie-up with the Irish firm on the PCV cement wagons, it would be nice to think that more products could result from this link.
  22. The new 47 problems have been covered on the N-Gauge Forum; there's always someone to help on there.
  23. I've found the Pilot silver paint pen from Paperchase is a good alternative to brush-painting. It's quicker with no cleaning up afterwards and can assist where the shanks are short, as with N gauge locos and wagons.
  24. It seems there are several 'brands' of this one. Mine's a 'Trumpeter' and is identical to the Badger one. All these are highly recommended for airbrushing. The Tamiya paint stirrers are great too if you've got an old tin of thick paint before using the battery ones or for small brush-painting jobs.
