  1. That was a very thought provoking post Tony. Being 80 next year and in 'fair to middling' health my thoughts seem to often gravitate towards one's modelling 'estate'. My intentions are for three of my best pals to deal with it all as we all did for another dear friend who we lost recently. I've already started to thin down slowly, disposing of stuff (RTR and kits) and I know that my trusted friends will be there for my family at what will be a difficult (I assume!) time. I have a salutary tale from a few years ago. A close friend of my so lost his father who had a huge collection of mostly brand new locos, many that had never been out of their boxes including around a dozen brand new Wrenn locos. A dealer had offered around £600 for the lot. Before dealing my son asked me to have a look at it all, so for the gift of a few locos I agreed to sell the lot for him on Ebay (there was no Hattons et al buying services back then). It was a long task but worth it in the end as I realized over £5G.
  2. Indeed there is Tony: https://uk.Hornby.com/products/extractor-tool-steam-loco-tender-plug-x6468
  3. Thanks Gunners for the splendid work. This one is my favourite as, back in the 60s, I had one of these in this colour as the band transport always stuffed to the roof with amps, drum kits etc..! I used to attend the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and sit on the roof parked at Becketts when one could back in the day!
  4. Martin's stuff is top notch. He's the chap that put me onto ultra high power 'Greenkeeper' static machines! Never looked back since!
  5. Nice work there with very useful references. I do love Triang clerestory 'cut'n'shut work. I did a fair bit of it a good while ago creating 'correct' length B/3rds. I never did figure out how to use the 'imaginary' other coach!
  6. Suggestions please of a supplier of this size of tension spring, 10/11mm long (or thereabouts) by 1mm. I've made exhaustive searches through Hornby spares sites but to no avail. Thanks in advance.
  7. The first effort of a callow youth! ERG cardboard, pretty awful really but I was proud of it at the time as it was a 'proper' coach that wasn't Hornby Dublo or Rovex! I remember cutting the window apertures with a razor blade held in the fingers. I didn't know the existence of Exacto knives. It was treated with shellac for a suitable surface on which to apply paint, made by dissolving decorators shellac slivers in meths! Things got better when aluminium Westdale wrappers appeared. They could be made into half decent models. I still have a few to build. Does anybody remember Kenline wagon parts? Then etched brass kits appeared. Manna from Heaven!

  9. Come to think of it, I can't remember taking it! 🥴 Duly credited....!
  10. Absolutely disgusting. What planet do some of these people live on? I'd certainly report this idiot to Ebay, not that they'd probably be bothered.
  11. What is the wheelbase Rob? I do have a 'Bullant' bogie somewhere which you'd be very welcome to if it would fit.
  12. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-66498947 One would hope that the moron in the management of Highways England would be sacked for the wasting £ I00000+ of public funds for something based on erroneous information....Fat chance...!
  13. A super show as always in lovely atmospheric Wells. Particularly delicious was the world cuisine available in the market square on the Saturday! Mixed eras! The DFR getting in the way! The GWR stock belongs to team member Ian Harrison. Photo ctsy of 10800!
  14. A delightful narrative Jerry!😏
