RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 15, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2015 And so to fitting the figures to locos, chose a Bachmann 66 and Hornby 56 The 66 has the possession and driver figure fitted..... To fit the recumbant pose i had to cut part of the rear wall away So i fit in snuggly At the other end the driver figure needs cutting down And it just sits in the seat thats already in the cab, the arm also rests nicely on the centre console And with the body in place, quite difficult to photograph but it does look good in real life And to the 56, im legless again! Had to remove the arm rests from the Hornby seat and reduce the height slightly but once done its a case of glueing it back onto the base and console And with the body back on, this one is easier to see than the 66, they should look good in class 60s and 70s Will have to get some more now for my other locos
Keith George
Jim must have been in the pub a long time yesterday to be that legless. Hope he did'nt intend driving afterwards.

alanbuttler
Superb work Jim! Particularly like the line possession pose. I was hoping to have the figures on the website this week but with a few power cuts from the high winds it will have to be next week now. Would it be worth providing the figures with the legs removed before hand do you think?

Steadfast
I can't believe how well they've come out, nice work painting them Jim. Those trousers are definitely still too clean though, drivers eh? :-p A range of modern shunters could be useful too? Mug of tea, sorry brake stick, in hand, or looking up at a loco talking to the 'Big Jim' figure, of course clad head to toe in orange with a matching hard hat. I don't know if you do any shows near to Wiltshire but I'd be happy to provide info or a subject to scan Jo

Steadfast
Ooh here's a thought...get a signaller, a fitter, some NR track, S&T, station staff, guards, all scanned from members to form the RMweb collection :-D Jo
Benjamin Brady
A signaller would be easy, jeans and a t-shirt asleep in the chair
Mike Storey
If you do manage to scan other folk, particularly shunters, could you please try to do versions without a hard hat as well as with - this will cater for those of us who model 1970 to 1990 when a hard hat was, in reality, only found on a building site (I know shunters had bump hats but they were rarely worn unless the gaffer or an H&S bod was floating around). Is Little Big Jim now for sale on the website?
