As always great modelling Chris. I like what you've done with the windows on the pagoda, I'm sure it will "cheer up" when it's painted and weathered.

Thanks Steve

I've managed to ‘fix’ the right hand side but the left hand side still needs a little fettling

My main task for today is to tidy up my work area.....again

This is the best I can do (so far)

I’ll be totally honest the kit is absolute poo!

The kit I had was in the older style packaging though so the tooling may have since been replaced?

On the photo it looks the part okay.

I suppose in real life they were a bit ‘rough n ready’ so I should reserve judgment until it’s finished.

I’m tempted to recut the window apertures so they are closer to the corners now I know I can patch it up

Well I’d put it off long enough and finally gotten around to filling all the smaller slabs at the front and the back.

It’s a bit of a ‘jail job’ but it has to be done

As always it looks a mess at the moment but you can’t make an omelette without breaking some eggs

Hi Chris,

I have enjoyed reading through your topic and will continue to follow with interest.

It  crossed my mind that maybe one of the strips you have used to disguise the join between the stonework sheets on your platform wall could be used as a platform step up. In my mind they used to be quite common in stations. Staff used to use them to cross the line, either from platform to platform, or from a yard. It avoided having to go down to the ramps at either end.

Having said they were quite common, I can't actually trace a picture of one on the internet, but no doubt someone on here will have one available. I don't ever recall seeing one modelled.

I also created a platform mounted signal on the Mk1 version of my layout. It just creeps into one of the pictures on my layout topic. But I don't think it matches the quality of yours. I had a little wooden door in the side of my platform which I recall seeing at some station or other to give access to the wires coming through the platform wall.  Link to my thread here. Keep up the great work.

ps now I've put the link in, it appears in the photo below. Not sure if that is the computer being clever . . . . . . ? It certainly isn't me !

The laborious task of sanding the filler and cleaning/scraping out the grooves has been completed

So this afternoon I’ve attached a ‘shelf’ to the back of the platform to support the fencing and also give me something to add the static grass too

I've also decided on the final position of the pagoda hut so a support piece has been added

I’ve not yet decided whether to add grass behind the fencing at this end or not

I appreciate it doesn't look like I’ve done much but I’ve spent most of the day sanding and scraping

First coat applied this morning, I’ll apply a second coat once I’m happy that there is no more filler to do

once the second (or third) coat has cured I’ll mask up the edging stones and spray the paving a slightly darker grey

Hi Chris, ref step-ups that I referred too above, this is a photo that turned up at work as part of a current project. Although new construction, this gives an idea of what I was meaning.

Thanks John

I perhaps could have done something like this although I need to make sure I leave a big enough gap for the point rodding

Looking good Chris, the platform is looking very nice. :)

Thanks Steve, still a long way to go (I keep finding bits to fill) but I’m getting there.

I'm going to strip apart the Gaugemaster lamps tomorrow and give them a repaint and make up the fencing whilst I’m waiting for filler and/or paint to dry

Oh and finish the pagoda hut

Unless I’m asked to do something else non modelling related

I realise this looks drastic but I felt that the windows needed to be closer to the corners than to the door aperture

More nice modelling skills shown here Chris..
