Broadoak
A Talbot Valley Railroad (a fictional short line) Alco S2 working in the yard at Benson. The model was a birthday present from my old friend Bill Gates who did the paint job and lettering. It is an Atlas model and is superb for switching, being quite heavy giving very slow quiet running. Broadoak
The photos show a typical busy day day at Benson with Interstate & Western #381 a GP38-2, a locomotive fitted with dynamic brakes arriving with a cut of empty pulp wood cars. The cars are then backed into the pulp wood loading track where they are loaded directly from trucks. Photos by Peter M Peter M

Broadoak
Another busy day at Benson featuring another 2000 HP EMD GP38-2 but this one is not fitted with dynamic brakes. She is seen arriving with a cut of RI covered hoppers filled with grain. She is then seen delivering one of the Rock Island’s covered hoppers to the Mutual Service Elevator in Benson’s east yard. Les1952
A Kings Cross to Catterick Camp troop train has run to Darlington, where the V2 has run round. It is passing through Croft Spa on its way back to Eryholme junction (next station South) where it will turn off onto the Richmond branch. At Catterick Bridge the V2 will run round again and pull the train chimney first up the hill to Catterick Camp. Each train passed through Croft Spa twice on its journey, Northbound chimney-first then Southbound tender-first. The loco and stock then passed through Northbound again as ecs to Darlington. Although the Catterick camp branch appears to have been RA9 V2s were the usual motive power for the train, with an occasional B1. Les Pic taken before the ballasting was finished, which is why it is scruffier than I usually manage. Popular Post Ben B
Lower Saxony, and a Wismar railbus trundles over a level crossing on the Heath Railway, en-route to Bohme Station, late on a Spring evening. Having a play with my new toy, a second-hand LGB G-Scale railbus, a model that I've wanted since I saw one in a mag when I was 12! As for location, it's four lengths of track, some hanging basket liner and a Playmobil level crossing, all sat on a bench propped up by the wall down the side of my house. OK the scenery in the background is a hillside in the Worth Valley rather than the relative flat of the real place, but it was the best I could do whilst still being within walking distance of the teapot: 17 2
