Woodcock29
I've just repainted a Hornby Q6 after changing boiler fittings to suit a Dia 50 boiler, so it must be the Q6 for me. Andrew
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 17, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 17, 2020 I forgot to mention that the last sequence was completed in just 59 days! Just shows how lifestyles have changed, I suppose. Your photos are still of that last hour before darkness though, starting with an Immingham B1 waiting to take the 9.07 Grimsby to its home. This is pretty horrible, but as it took a long time to get it even as presentable as this, I'll use it. While the B1 waits, Thane of Fife comes through with a Class C for Leeds.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted May 17, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 17, 2020 The Q poll for tender engines was fairly easily won by the Q6, while for tanks there were few candidates. Things were rather complicated by a sub poll for EMUs though. If some clever person can put up Clive's list from a couple of pages back, we could do that one officially today though? I'm never sure how to do this cutting and pasting stuff.

RMweb Premium SR Chris Posted May 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 17, 2020 My vote goes to the class 309, although the 310 is a close second as I spent many journeys in the saloon behind the driver's cab after school trying to figure out how the things were driven.

RMweb Premium 31A Posted May 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 17, 2020 From the above list I would vote for the Glasgow Blue Train units, for their elegant front end design, sensible sliding doors at 1/3 and 2/3 spacing (when slam door stock continued to be built long after for other Regions) and the passengers view through the windscreens. But if other overhead EMUs were allowed, Class 365 .... 1
rowanj
Typical southern bias !!! (LOL). LNER -build North Tyneside EMU. Dave Alexander, now sadly no longer with us, intended to introduce a kit. Hopefully someone somewhere will take up the slack. No good for Peterborough, of course, Gilbert.

David Bell
I would vote for the Glasgow Blue Train too. On the 0-8-0 I did look up a picture of the CR machine with a view to voting for it, but it really was not a good looking loco - odd wheel spacing!

John they had their pantograph on their bogies so are not included in this punch up. If we were to do a 3 rail (and 4th rail) contest then I may vote for them as well. But then there all those wonderful SR conversions of pregrouping stock, who doesn't like a LB&SCR 3SUB?
CUTLER2579
Clive, 4 rail electric unit has to be the LT A60 which lasted well over 55 years and got a terrible battering on the Met.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 17, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 17, 2020 Fighting the laptop now. I'd forgotten the clever bit where, if I inadvertently pass my hand across the pad, it rearranges everything for me. However, I have my mug of tea, the sun is shining and we have another look at Thane of Fife before I get back to work. 29
