Its on 10th Avenue, on a bit of track not replaced by the high line, which was built in 1934. The high line is just off scene to the right, running parallel

https://www.google.com/maps/@0,0,0a,0y/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1ssseGbXsRpVLJuRshU84h7w!2e0

(The link doesn’t seem to want to work correctly, if you spin round 180 you can see the same building)

Thanks for that info,  we went to New York last year (first time we'd been there) and walked along the high line, so your picture (and the google link)  was very interesting.

Here are two more pictures of Utah Transit Authority's(UTA) TRAX light rail train in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been in the Salt Lake City area the last two weekends with my job as a professional truck driver. On the weekend of November 2nd-4th, I had went joy-riding on UTA's FrontRunner commuter rail train and visited two model train stores. I visited "The Train Shoppe" in suburban South Salt Lake, Utah and "Hobby Stop" in suburban Orem, Utah in the first weekend. In this last weekend(November 9th-11th), I went to a NMRA model train show in suburban Sandy, Utah. I had purchased a N scale Southern Pacific locomotive(gray and red) at the show. To all of you soccer fans: Sandy, Utah is the home of the Real Salt Lake team in Major League Soccer.

Don't they start with Thanksgiving and leave them up?

In Leicester, they start with Diwali, switch them off, change a few things, then switch them back on again.

Same in parts of Brum*

EDIT *Christmas Lights switch on was Thursday 15th November, same day as the Frankfurt Chrirmas Market opens.

Here's a handful taken last year in Utica, NY, of the NYS&W operation there that switches local industries and makes its way along Schuyler St for a short part of its journey.

The weather was a bit iffy and I was planning to have a lie in when I got a text message form the engineer telling me he was just signing on for the job. These pics are on the return run back to Utica and include GP40 3030 shunting the FX Matt Brewery, makers of Utica Club & Saranac Ale.

Here's two pictures of the Denver Rock Island Railroad running alongside Packinghouse Road in Denver. From late Thursday to early Saturday of last week(December 6-8, 2018), I was in the Denver metropolitan area while working my trucking job. I got to visit the "Caboose"(formerly Caboose Hobbies) model train store in suburban Lakewood, Colorado last Friday. Caboose is the largest model train store here in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

The 'old' Caboose Hobbies on Broadway was the largest in the US.

The new one in Lakewood is a lot smaller and carries less stuff than the old one, I think that the owners of Caboose Hobbies retired and sold up, the Caboose in Lakewood has new management.

Regards,

Yes, the newer store is smaller(in the number of items) than the old store in Denver on Broadway. But, I think the new Caboose store is still the largest store in The States in terms of square footage.

I know that I have already shared some pictures of Anaheim, California. Here's a "before" and "after"(via attachment) picture of a train running down Olive Street. Anaheim is about 35 miles(56 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles via the Santa Ana Freeway(Interstate 5 or I-5). Happy New Year to everyone!

Its a shame that the Circus train no longer runs

I totally agree with you, Ian. The animal-rights activists such as PETA(People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals) have literally shut down most of the circus industry over here Stateside.

Yes indeed, let’s mistreat animals so that we can run more trains! Edited by Regularity

Circuses do not neccessarily have to have animals, many here in Europe operate successfully without any animals.
