brian daniels
I found the supplied door chains so fixed them on. As far as I know these are to be a customer fit item to keep the cost down. They do stand out a bit so I will have a go at blackening them.
gardenwall
I observe from a couple of vendors websites that there is a 7th livery listed for the tank wagon - Esso with the logo, but without the white lettering. What the difference in the two Carringtons liveries is, is still unclear, as Kernow have the same image for both.
CME and Bottlewasher
I think that the age of the wagon may be influencing this, the metalwork has eased and the sides moved out. This one is new http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/broaa/e104a5613 and the sides appear to be close to being flush - the model also appears to have a slight difference between cantrail and sides. As mentioned by others, I don't like the grooves on the tank barrel - they should be raised welding lines. http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/essoatankwagonvb/e2864d696 Nice to see they are doing the Regent tank, makes a change. Paul Hi Paul/everyone, Just catching up with this Thread. I am interested in the Tanks and I was wondering - with retail release immanent? - if the issues (as mentioned in this Thread) with the tanks had been resolved for the production models? With the tank 'grooves' did I note that Brian Daniels had modified them before painting? Also with the 'waste oil' version what sort of facilities would these have served - anywhere where there is waste oil or just BR related waste oil? With thanks in anticipation, Kind regards, CME Edited October 15, 2014 by CME and Bottlewasher
brian daniels
The tanks do have raised welds now CME, I did not modify it China did! The waste oil version has lettering on the tank side "to work between" and then a list of BR depots. They were only BR internal waste tanks.
brian daniels
Heljan have sent a sample of the IGA and IWA for evaluation. I have painted them with paint and transfers from Appleby. There are a couple of little issues that are being sorting but nothing to worry unduly about.
Pugsley
The van looks quite good - I'm glad the 'Hastings Gauge' of the 4mm one hasn't been carried over.

F-UnitMad
The lower ends of the 'A' frame & the gap there between body & chassis look awful... Presumably that is one of the "couple of little issues that are being sorting but nothing to worry unduly about." ??
brian daniels
Label clip is by the Cargowaggon lettering (I know what you are going to say!) The three change-over levers are by it. That gap does need sorting!
tomstaf
The IWA looks promising But the buffers look a bit rushed - lots of mould marks. Is that on the to sort out list? Cheers Tom
brian daniels
Very much so Tom.
Pugsley
The lower ends of the 'A' frame & the gap there between body & chassis look awful... Agreed, but that can be easily sorted with a bit of filler - the biggest thing is it being the right size and shape!
bobster
I don't think I want to (or should have to) start putting filler on my £150+ wagons - Lets hope they are correct when they appear. Cheers, Bob.

hmrspaul
A few prototype pics from 1983 - Taken at Crawley New Yard. Cheers, Bob. Sorry Bob that is the wrong prototype, a diag E476 with three doors and a framed end. The model is the diag E512 with two doors and an A frame end http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/german2doorvan Brian has given it an appropriate number. This is a nice choice as the model can be finished in Taunton Cider livery. They were introduced with a different livery to the one Brian has used with Great Britain Continent arrow Paul
bobster
Slap on the wrist accepted Paul - I was getting all carried away seeing those samples Cheers, Bob.
brian daniels
I just used a set of Appleby transfers for this as that's all you can get at the moment.
Pugsley
The van looks quite good - I'm glad the 'Hastings Gauge' of the 4mm one hasn't been carried over.I'm starting to change my stance on these - the main body doesn't seem to come far enough out. I reckon the edge of the doors should be more or less level with the projection from the buffer beam, which is the mount for the door runner. https://www.flickr.com/photos/dan700/5813299477/sizes/l https://www.flickr.com/photos/dan700/5813295957/sizes/l https://www.flickr.com/photos/hmillington/2038727520/sizes/l Edit - maybe not: https://www.flickr.com/photos/eagle50043/7585454046/sizes/l I think I'll have to see one in the flesh before making a proper judgment. brianthesnail96
Nope- Tower has expected delivery dates up on their website- the first batches are just getting on the boat by the sounds of it, so 4-6 weeks, the rest following on about a month after. Southernman46
Anyone got a VAA yet ? Are they any good - I remember some concerns about the roof profile ?
deltic17
Got my VAA's today - they look pretty good to me - one thing the brake gear with white handles on both sides were virtually loose/already fallen off on each wagon so I have had to glue these all back on!!! Some of the underframe details had fallen off on one wagon too so I have glued these back too! The ends of the brake pipes are pretty low but should hopefully just avoid fouling any pointwork! The springing is a nice touch although one of my VAA's is higher at one end than the other by a couple off mm??? - probably can be corrected by weighting it inside but not ideal. The VAA's in Bauxite with Railfreight branding have the number 200589 and the other Bauxite one has the number 200289. 589 is the more normal Bauxite colour,289 is almost heading a more chocolate brown.
