RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted October 19, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 A heads up on a new ,to me anyway, GWR Bullion Van kit to the diagram M17, being produced by SRMW. Not a cheap build when you add up all the components but maybe a simpler job than the alternative brass kit from Frogmore via Dart Castings. Remember bogies, roof, buffers and underframe are extras to this body. https://www.shapeways.com/product/HPKJQQHN2/gwr-dia-m17-bullion-van-part-2-body?optionId=58880911 2
RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted October 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 Always rather suspect of a 3D print compared with brass in terms of the surface finish and the tendency to bow. But at least with things like this being easier to build it should hopefully result in more people kit building (and hopefully progressing on to brass). im guessing these wouldn’t be too common in our neck of the woods, but certainly makes an interesting prototype 1

He also now does the cabside shutters for the oil burners 1
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted October 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2020 I believe that a bullion van may have been a fairly common sight on Ocean Liner trains, I can't remember where I have seen photos of one included in the formation. 2
RMweb Gold 88C Posted October 20, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 20, 2020 Great Western Album by R. C. Riley. 6023 on Hemerdon bank on a Plymouth to Paddington train. Dated 26 March 1937. The photo is attributed to W N Lockett. What is more surprising is that I knew where to look an found it straight away. Brian

He'd been let out of the Facility under Pasty armed escort for an hour of exercise, while they did a deep clean of the naughty sofa. Apparently one of his escorts lent him his phone. Consequently he's in solitary (the Green Hole) and the escort is toasting warming nicely on the Air Smoother - so my sources tell me

Been busy on domestic projects, making the most of no weekends away and no visitors during this 'unprecedented' period of Covid nastiness to trash the house and tick off long overdue tasks. The new Spam Towers west wing is starting to take shape. I'm particularly pleased with the gate house and ballroom. Abnormal service will be resumed in November... 3 2 2 1 2

Obviously cover for your "friends" expansion of their underground facilities, as the Pasty shop was getting too much attention from certain other Railway groups I had heard you were being released from the Naughty Sofa as you are on the outgoing Grand Inquisitors official pardon list - though I suspect it's actually because the new Grand Inquisitor has elected you as his Number Two

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2020 I am surprised no-one has mentioned Victor Sylvester. He famously (well, allegedly) sent a suit back to his tailor because there was no ballroom. 4
