Virgin East Coast 43299 leads the diverted 1S13 11:00 London Kings Cross to Inverness through Micklefield on 3rd May 2015.

 

Engineering work north of Doncaster resulted in ECML services being diverted, with Virgin East Coast's Scottish services operating via Wakefield, Leeds and Church Fenton, rejoining the ECML at Colton Junction.

Some super pictures on this thread, indeed on the whole site. It has re-ignited my love of railways and made me get out with my camera after not taking any railway pics for twenty odd years.

Here`s one from 1993, at the NRM. I liked the way the highlights ran along the engine.

Interestingly this UP 4-12-2 seemed somehow larger and more powerful than the Big Boy on the adjacent track, despite the fact that the latter is 21' longer than the former. Both were at the Poloma-Los Angeles County Fair ground in 2011 - I understand that the Big Boy's now been moved elsewhere for possible restoration by UPRR. By golly it was a hot day.

L&NWR 'Coal tank' 1054 on shed at Haworth on 27th June 2015.

 

 

The locomotive is rostered to work on 28th June as part of the K&WVR's Sunday Vintage Train Service.
