37081LochLong
Just finished watching the video, thanks for that link Bon Accord! I'm up in the Highlands on a regular basis but some of my fondest memories rail travel wise up there are the ones up to 1986ish and that brought back a lot of memories for me with the split headcode 37s, Ethels, the Mexican Bean and the Royal Scotsman etc... it also helps me with my modelling project with some of the train formations and stock etc... Waverley47708
A little outwith my pre Sprinter and pre 477s heading to Eastfield period, nevertheless a green and cream Loch Eil inspection saloon in 1998 https://www.flickr.com/photos/72123072@N04/8333916006/ And link to some details http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=1052 This is not the Bachmann version which is ex LMS, this one is ex LNER. Back to the Bachmann model. Picture of an ex LMS at the rear of a passenger service at Oban. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparrowhawk7/12391206585/ And an interesting closer view it appears that the row of seats have replaced the table and chairs. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparrowhawk7/7227610722/ Edited February 16, 2015 by Waverley47708

RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted March 18, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) That was one of the DMU driving trailers. Hi Phil, Sorry - not an ex DMU car... As per other comments - Ex LNER Inspection saloon. Still exists today as part of the Royal Scotsman set up. http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=1052 Thanks Edited March 18, 2015 by Scottish Modeller
RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted March 18, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) Hi all, Speaking of Observation cars/saloons... Lochaber - Ex LNER General Managers Saloon 1531 http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=945 I'm still searching for good photos of this one - not in it's current, rebuilt guise, but as it was running in Blue/Grey in Scotland. Also... 9004 - Ex GWR Inspection car - also used in Scotland in GWR Brown and Cream livery. http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=240 There seem to be very few photos of this one when it was up here - or am I just not finding them? Thanks Edited March 18, 2015 by Scottish Modeller
37081LochLong
A lot of people mistake that LNER one for the converted Class 101 DMU for some reason! As for the GWR one, I got a photo in 1983 but it was taken on a 110 camera so the quality isn't great! i've not seen many photos of it in the highlands eitherhttps://www.flickr.com/photos/blackwatch55013/7327180394/in/photolist-catmzh-catHss

Coach bogie
9004 - Ex GWR Inspection car - also used in Scotland in GWR Brown and Cream livery. Thanks It was originally built as a 'special saloon'. When the GWR withdrew its' clerestory Royal Train, this coach along with matching 9005 and other saloons including a 1st class sleeper, were used as Royal Train replacement coaches, but could also earn their keep as private hire vehicles etc.when not required for Royal use. Most of Hattons pre-used items carry eye-watering prices. They have taken to selling tat when locos have missing chimneys or are non-working.
davknigh
Hi does anyone know how to gain access to the interior of the Bachmann model would like to detail it. cheers You'll have to either remove or cut the handrails on the middle steps first, remove the bogies, then use the time honoured thin bladed screwdriver to ease the sides away from the clips. ISTR there were 4 clips per side but I may be wrong. BTW Bachmann says you're not supposed to do this HTH David
RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2015 im pretty sure i didnt have to do that to get the body off mine to detail inside, if i get a chance i'll have a look later
Waverley West
The handrails can be carefully prised away from the body at the top. That will release them from the body. They don't need to be removed or broken. A bit of care is needed though.

JaymzHatstand
Hi that's good news didn't really want to break it do you know how the body comes off? Cheers There are several clips between the floor and body, start at one end and work your way along. If memory serves, there are three or four per side. Hope this helps Cheers J Edited for ten-thumbed typing errors! Edited June 26, 2015 by JaymzHatstand
