RMweb Premium keefer Posted August 6, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 6, 2020 Notice the coupling adapter includes an air or MR pipe - so presumably the unit can be hauled fitted, intstead of unfitted at 25 mph with brake vans (as happened with a lot of EMUs in the late-'70s/early-'80s - even the delivery of the new 317s and 455s)

The two original 150s and the 151s had PBL two pipe air brakes so could be hauled at 45mph the later westcode fitted ones were only 10mph emergency assistance as the loco can't work the train brakes. The only braking being application of the parking brake on the unit 1

Yes Gibbo, I thought about that but I decided not to mention anything because it would only attract the pedants telling me that "the sleepers were loco-hauled only and would not be compatible without modifications yada yada" 2 3
