Indomitable026
Obviously this won't stop trips to the pub... Ok, On your behalf we will promise to investigate if there are any pubs in the vicinity of Stevenage.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted January 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 13, 2017 Most of Stevenage will be in Plymouth this Saturday, watching football, so the pubs will be empty, or shut.
The Ghost of IKB
Those are substantial baseboards, I suspect that even if president trump does cause nuclear armageddon, your railway will survive, even if nothing else does. This of course will really confuse future alien archaeologists, who on exploring earth in ten thousand years will believe your model railway to be the mass transportation system of a race of hyper intelligent cochroaches..... I think I might need to stop drinking the left over Christmas booze, it's making me think strange things!

Hopefully I will be adding more to the nuclear bunker over the weekend...
Indomitable026
With todays bike ride out of the way, my plan this weekend is to finish the last few bits on the four boards I've been working on recently. I'll clean them up and, garage temperature permitting, give them a coat of paint.
Indomitable026
One of the last jobs is to install the remaining three trackbed support blocks. Seen here installed and clamped in place. The strip of plywood on top is to ensure the trackbed ends align vertically on the board joint while the glue dries.
Indomitable026
Goods yard trackbed now complete. I'm scratching my head on what to do now, its below zero in the garage so no chance of painting.

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted January 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 22, 2017 What about now?
Indomitable026
I've spent some time taking it all to bits. Here's some pics of the separate boards.
Indomitable026
Time to move on. I've put the back board No 2 back up, this required borrowing the master legs from Back board No 1. I now need to lash something together to represent the new, yet to be built, back board No 3.
Indomitable026
This is back board No 3, the next board to be built. The embankment in the bottom corner is currently causing me to scratch my head.

Indomitable026
Now I've offered the Templot plan up.
Indomitable026
The embankment falls away pretty much at the edge of the track bed. My solution, I think, is to make the baseboard joint between the track and the platform. This means the embankment can be on the front board. Proposed board joint in the fetching pink colour on the plan and now in yellow on the board Well, its got two chances...
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted January 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 22, 2017 I think that's a good solution. Not sure about the use of pink though.
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted January 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 22, 2017 How about a curved front, following the top of the embankment?
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted January 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2017 Can't you drop the whole board, putting the track bed on stilts ?
Geoff Cook
Good choice, just don't forget to omit the framework where the turnout TOU is, and you may have to cut into the Birch Ply depending how close you are to the TOU Geoff
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted January 23, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2017 I assume that the track / platform is parallel to the rear / perpendicular to board 2 ?
Indomitable026
I assume that the track / platform is parallel to the rear / perpendicular to board 2 ? No its at a slight angle, I don't think that matters?
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted January 23, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2017 No its at a slight angle, I don't think that matters? I suppose it doesn't matter as you have a board across the front. How will the finished boards be packed / transported?
