RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted February 3 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 3 Good evening, everyone. This evening, we have four more photo’s to enjoy seeing, thanks to knoxrj, and John Turner, both on Flickr. The first one is a photo’ of a rebuilt Classicfootballshirts B16, 61444, in store at Hull dairycoates, along with another, in June, 1963. The second photo’ shows class J39, 1487, as it backs out of Hull Paragon station in the 1930’s. Next we have a photo’ of another class J39, this time 2973, at Hessle, again in the 1930’s. Finally, here’s a photo’ of Load Haul, 56039, shortly after being named “ABP Port of Hull” at King George Dock, Hull, on the 19th July, 1994. Best regards, Rob.
RMweb Premium 31A Posted February 3 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 3 Thank you Rob for posting these fascinating photos every day! The first two of this evening's selection are a reminder that J39s were originally considered to be mixed traffic locos and were sometimes used on Express Passenger turns. Also a reminder of how welcome a new model would be, to replace the elderly Bachmann model with its clunky boiler bands, amongst other things!
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted February 4 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 4 Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Steve, for your kind comment, and you are right about the J39’s. I too would love to see Bachmann upgrade their model. Now, this evening we have four more photo’s, courtesy of chris_veasey, knoxrj, Andy Hughes, and Paul Smith, all on Flickr. Two of them are of the present day with the relaying work, between Nafferton and Burton Agnes, on the down line, plus the turnout replacement at Bridlington all in mind. The first one shows H&BR class J, 38, at Springhead, getting coaled, on an unknown date. Secondly, we have a photo’ of H&BR, 117. They went on to become LNER class Q10. The location is unknown along with the date, but I have decided to include the photo’ since the locomotive worked in Hull and East Yorkshire. Now, this third photo’ is a record of present day railway, as mentioned. It is of 66528, as it rejoins the mainline at Anlaby Road Junction, Hull, with the 11.10 Driffield to Doncaster Decoy engineering train, on Saturday, the 3rd February, 2024. And this last photo’ shows a unique locomotive, for the area, of a class 70, making the second visit of a Freightliner Class 70 to the Wolds Coast Line. 70017 returns from Scarborough as it passes Cottingham working train, 0D88, the 07:26 Leeds Balm Road Loco to Leeds Balm Road Loco. 70002 worked the diagram the previous day. The date being the 30th January, 2024. Best regards, Rob.

Probably quite jealous of the warmth and quietness! 3
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted February 5 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5 Good evening, everyone. This evening we have four more photo’s, with two again being of trains in connection with the relaying work between Driffield and Bridlington. They are courtesy of Richard Stewart, Charlie Verrall, and knoxrj, all on Flickr. The first one is a portrait shot of class G5, 67349, at Malton, on the 20th September, 1952. Next we have a photo’ of Middleton on the Wolds, between Market Weighton, and Driffield. There is a class D22 to be seen. Please excuse the writing on what otherwise a great photo’ of the station. I have no idea what ER is. The third photo’ is of 66569, which marks the last of the initial six engineers trains in the 9-day blockade for track renewal between Driffield & Bridlington, departing Driffield on tra, 6Y35, engineers to Doncaster Belmont, on Sunday the 4th February, 2025. Finally, a photo’ from the same vantage point, of 66413, as it powers away from Driffield on train, 6Y33, engineers to Doncaster Belmont, also on the 4th February, 2024. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted February 6 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 6 Good evening, everyone. Firstly, I agree, Kevin, about pictures of Middleton on the Wolds. It does not appear in many photo’s unlike the nearby Enthorpe bank. Now, this evening, we have four more photo’s courtesy of knoxrj, Richard Stewart, fishermandave89, and Robin Stewart-Smith, all on Flickr. Firstly, we have a photo’ of 31 305 &31 543, leaving Bridlington Quay heading towards Scarborough, on the 19th May, 1991. Next we have another portrait shot of a class G5. This one being 387, on Botanic Gardens shed, in the 1930’s. The third photo’ is a ‘record photo’ of LNER Seamer West Junction & Signal Box (North Eastern Railway 1906) on the 13th July 1986. The box and signals are now long gone. Finally, here’s another photo’ of an engineers train, in connection with the relaying work on the Bridlington branch, from Sunday the 4th February, 2024. So, again at Driffield, 66544 departs on train, 6Y34, engineers to Doncaster Belmont. Best regards, Rob.

Popular Post micknich2003
Wilmington swing bridge, opened May 1907, last train 26 October 1968, remains in use as a public right of way. This view looking west towards Wincolmlee. E Bay buy, no details but suggest c1910. 20
micknich2003
Further to Rob's comments re H&BRly Class A No117, here are three versions of the same print. The black and white example is obviously the original negative, and the coloured view a hand tinted interpretation. The third print is intregeing, but why it was done I have no idea, it relates to no known H&BRly style of painting. The location is Springhead shed yard, and probly 1907 when the engine was new. The background trees probably remain, the railway as long gone. 13

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted February 7 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7 Good evening, everyone. Firstly, many thanks to Mick, for the photo’ of the Wilmington swing bridge, and then those photo’s of H&BRly Class A No 117. They are very interesting, especially the intriguing third one. Finally, thank too for cleaning up the Middleton on the Wolds pic. It makes a big difference. So, this evening, we have four photo’s, including another of an engineering train in connection with the relaying work. They are courtesy of John Law, knoxrj, and West Halton Sidings, all on Flickr. The first one is a view of Howden station, H&BR, with an unidentified 0-6-0, on a freight train in early days. Next, we have a photo’ of Scarborough station, with a two car class 101 unit departing on a service to Hull. The date is the summer of 1987. The third photo’ is a lovely portrait of class G6, 247, on Springhead shed, in 1927. Finally, here’s a photo’ of Freightliner class 66, no. 66528, as it waits with train, 6Y37, just outside Beverley, at the signal protecting Beverley North level crossing, on Tuesday, the 6th February, 2024. If the LNWR had opted for Hull by taking over the H&B instead of trying to reach Hartlepool, our railway landscape would have had a different outcome to this. It didn't see the year out, so was possibly one the H&B for a short period. All the G6s had gone by 1929, admittedly a few were rebuilt in to J77s plus one to Botanic's pet the X2.
