Time to start featuring layouts coming to the show this year .

That Dam Railway is as it says on the tin of a well known wood preserver - a model railway based around building a dam. 009 scale, an excellent representation of lines that were built up and down the hilly areas of the country to bring potable water to the masses.

A lot said about the NHS but after spending 5 hours in A and E after mam had a fall and broke wrist nothing but praise for the efficient checks and treatment to ensure no deeper damage done. Curtailed getting packs out to exhibitors and traders but they are being done - but might be from a hospital bedside!

Today's featured layout is Widnes Vine Street

Note to self - need to add extra detail to the Troutons box. The Vine Street really captures the real life structure

On a different note..is there secure van parking facilities at the stadium for the van.

We are coming south in two cars plus a van and the norm is to leave the large van along with most of the others at the venue.

No problem with that Dave the stadium are quite happy for us to leave vans in the compound overnight.  Just make sure you let the car park staff know.

Today's featured layout is Squaddies Bottom, a layout built by one of our junior member to show there is an inbetween Thomas and a fully blown all singing dancing layout. He has taken good advantage of being a member of the club with expert advice on hand to help when needed with baseboard, electrics etc. Ol will also be promoting his own trust - The Aspergers Flyer Trust which raises money to charter trains for families whose children are on the spectrum.

Layout focus today is the magmus opus that is Lancaster (Green Ayre). It has been in demo form at Warley and Nottingham but Wakefield will see it in its full form and although looking like it might not be fully finished ( not wanting to open up that debate on when is a layout finished) the full scale and ingenuity involved in reproducing the prototype will be seen from brass etches, castings, laser cut bits and bobs and of course not forgetting the blood sweat and tears needed to get such a layout complete.

Focus today is on Project X. This was designed to give members the opportunity of learning new skills and contributing their skills to other members. The completed Project X will be raffled off during the course of the show, each ticket being £1. The draw will be made at 3.00 pm on Sunday. Collection of the layout can be made on the day or within two weeks from the club rooms in Wakefield. The winning ticket number will be displayed on the club website at www.wakefieldrms.org . All electrics ( wired for DC and DCC ) transport vehicles, figures and buildings are included. Project X comes with its own wooden trestles.
