RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted February 23, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 23, 2016 It's going to be DB 60092 or Colas 60002, the one's I've had for haulage in those liveries. I will do both, just haven't decided which i'm doing first. Cheers, Phil.

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted February 24, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 24, 2016 Light coat of primer, mainly to cover the metal grilles and show up any rough spots. Yellow can go on, then I best choose a livery ! Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted February 24, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 24, 2016 Lots of yellow and a touch of orange maybe? Cheers, Mick
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted February 25, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2016 I haven't got the decals for either livery yet, so I might as well go for the livery with most painting work. So that'll be Yellow, mask, different Yellow, mask, Orange, mask, black. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted February 25, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2016 IMO, Colas on a 60 is easier than DBS red. Must do 60095 as that's the only one I've travelled behind. (I've already done 60063 as that's the only one i've driven........) Cheers, Mick
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted February 25, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2016 Hi Mick, I'd agree with that, Colas is more colours but less hassle. On the DB one I did the red last, which I was a bit concerned about, but it seemed to cover the grey ok. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted February 25, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2016 First colour on. As the original Yellow was pretty reluctant to come off, I've even got a masking line to work to! Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 1, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 1, 2016 Bit more progress made on the 60. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 7, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 7, 2016 A package has arrived from P H Design, containing the replacement roof pods for 33201, and a set of replacement bogie footsteps. So I've spent a pleasant hour or two this afternoon burning the skin off my fingers. Soldering has never been my strongpoint ! I think the results will be well worth the effort though !! Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 13, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 13, 2016 New bogie steps painted and fitted to 33201. Before and after pics for comparison, pics don't really do them justice, they look much better than the originals 'in the flesh'. RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 13, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 13, 2016 Been doing a bit of jumping between projects today. Weathered the Cromptons (pics when they come out of the airing cupboard!). Also realised I hadn't removed the roof pods from the 60, luckily it isn't a tough job, even at a later stage in proceedings than it should really be done ! The difference in the look of the Black paint is due to the body already being gloss varnished, ready for the transfers, so it will disappear under the final coat of varnish and weathering. The little 'dimple' (aerial?) was also added at one end, behind where the roof pod was removed. Cheers, Phil.

I'd painted 60062 in DBS red before I realised that they'd started removing the NRN pods. The early Super 60 locos still retain them. I wonder if Hornby will later the tooling for the Drax 60066? RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted March 13, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 13, 2016 I wouldn't mind, but I remembered to remove them from Colas 60076 & DB 60015 that I've already done !! I'd be surprised if Hornby alter the tooling for 60066. Cheers, Phil.
