jazz
Hi Grahame. Sorry, that is one of their's I have not had the pleasure of building. I can say though, as it's an original Scorpio kit you should not have any real difficulties. Always ready to give advice if you need it. jazz
Hi. Had a nice couple of days building and finishing of these two Parliamentary Trains kits. The only soldering on these two was the wheel bearings into the nickel silver supports. The rest of the laser cut kit was superglued together. Although not correct they are going behind model of the Liverpool/Manchester loco Lion in the display case. (I did not fancy scratch building those coaches a second time having sold the first ones years ago when I was manufacturing resin kits.) 10

jazz
must have been a bit chilly... Ha, they were made of tougher stuff in those days. Just look at the omnibuses, trams etc. Too uncomfortable for me.

jazz
Hi Dave. It was nice to build something so relaxed and simple. Now just starting the Gladiator rebuilt 'Royal Scot'.
John K
Ha, they were made of tougher stuff in those days. Just look at the omnibuses, trams etc. Too uncomfortable for me. The choices were open wagons or walk! John K
jazz
The choices were open wagons or walk! John K Right on John. I've travelled in that kind of train at Beamish, not at all comfortable and that was in very nice weather.
jazz
The Royal scot is now under way. Starting as usual with the tender. Chassis went together very well. The tender body had the usual issue with the coal chute needing some metal removing under the front end to get a good fit. Other than that all went well.
jazz
Coming along nicely now. Not much left to do tomorrow (Unless my other half has different plans). The most difficult part was the fire iron tunnel. Always entails a bit of chopping and filing to get it to fit. IMHO these kits are probably the best of the bunch of the etched variables variety tunnels. Edited December 15, 2018 by jazz
jazz
Surprisingly and despite many interruptions I got the build finished. An easy tender to build and I think the loco will be a tad longer to build.
Simond
“I think the loco will be a tad longer to build.” As in three days rather than two... Nice job as always, Ken. Best Simon

jazz
OK. Now it's on with the loco and it's chassis. No problems with it so far and non expected. Mind you you have to modify the large centre spacer to allow the plunger pickups to be installed, (this is mentioned in the instructions). jazz
Hi. Well Christmas is over for this year so back to normal now. The wife has wandered off to the shops to browse the leftovers That has left me to finish the Dragon Models ex TV passenger brake I started on the run up to Christmas. So this afternoon I did the medium weathering and it's now ready for service on the Trenruth layout. Here it is with a slight modification to the kit by adding gas pipes on the roof down to the gas tank also added the window bars to the luggage windows. Here it is all dirty looking.

jazz
Hi all. A very happy new year to you all. I have now returned to the WB and onwards with the Royal Scot. Chassis almost completed and now onwards with the body. It's going together very well up to now. The firebox/boiler/smoke box may be a bit different, requiring the usual adjustments.
jazz
Another bit of progress today. What a surprise, there was no tweaking required to the firebox, boiler or smoke box. Most unusual. Now the detailing can begin.
jazz
Well under way now with the detailing. I have the front lower running plate and cab interior to complete plus a little more pipe work. Also the deflectors need to be assembled. They will be removable to facilitate the painting plus a few small items to fit. Then finish the chassis and that's it until the cleaning up and priming stage. jazz
A short break and now almost there. Geoff is sending me the tanks that go just ahead of the cab. I have the drain valves to fit to cylinders and the a small amount of filler in one or two places, then the big clean for priming.
jazz
Took the day off today to build this Slater's brake van for my Trenruth layout. Very easy build to do. Tomorrow a wash and then prime it, then on with the Scott. Edited January 9, 2019 by jazz

I've always just lightly primed and never had any issues with paint adhering. Regards, Deano.
N15class
I always wash too. Gets rid of fingerprints, oils and the brass and white metal parts need it anyway.
