Work took me to different surgery so just had to stop off.

Not sure why Roxton Siding Box still survives the re-signalling. Usual suspects locomotive wise but the Airbus A400M was a bonus circling around.

Good morning Dr. You had some photos of the tioxide wagons I was wondering if you have any higher resolution images that show the data on the wagon sides more clearly? An example of each type are preserved at Frodingham Rly and I recently took photos and measurements. Someone is currently 3D printing a train of said wagons for my model of Great coates No1. Without the aforementioned info they will stay plain grey with red or yellow tops as unfortunately Frodingham has repainted the wagons obliterating all original numbering etc.

What sort of year are you thinking of as the Davis built wagons were regularly repainted and livery changed.

The wagon shown is one of the red tops on a shortened TSV (Airfix) chassis. The yellow tops being on 20 ton Anchor mounted tank chassis.

The BR livery and number are fictional!

Afternoon Mark,  why did they do away with vacuum brakes?

They were only ever intended to work between Immingham and Grimsby and at the time unfitted trains were the norm.  The same was applied to the Alcan hoppers in Northumberland they were built new as unfitted and in the end both were running under special instructions in the operating notices. The illmenite ones suffered from spell check as they carried illuminate according to the instructions!

Yes Frodingham have repainted them as iron ore tipplers I'm interested in any images that show detail of the original livery. As for the year I'm not keeping this in too tight a frame on my model as apart from getting more overgrown the location didn't change that much from mid 80s to mid 90s.

Pretty much covered it already. My earlier images in this thread appear to have gone AWOL

The ilmenite workings were generally 6/52 cycle. I do have images of me chasing a 37 with a selection of the red/yellow tops in tow. I'll try and re-scan at some point.

I seem to recall they were some of last un-fitted workings in UK??

Hopefully images of earlier re-bodied versions upload.

They were ex SNCF types with cupboard doors Image 10391 remains and is back on rails  image10392 (contains top half of 10391) has long since met the scrap man

Morning Paul

Are they still in use as internal users?

I would have to ask my contact at Frodingham to be sure about that (he also works at the works) but I rather got the impression that the two preserved examples were given as they were to be disposed of.

Thank you for up loading these again the info is lager and more readable on that side shot of the yellow top this time. Yourself and others on here have been very helpful and I now know how to finish these.

Appleby Frodingham Railway Preservation Society.

Recently their very nicely restored Austerity was at Lincolnshire Wolds

Occasionally steam tours of extensive rail network as I recall. Platform visible from local road.

afrps.co.uk is a useful/informative stop.

They had the iron stone loco Cranwell at Scunthorpe when I visited, it was being looked over before going to another railway. They do tours of the works on a pacer that they only ask for a donation for as well as steam and diesel brake van tours that have to be booked. Nice picture of the Austerity at LWR, I used to be a regular there, in more recent years I've been volunteering with the LCLR at Skegness.
