DOCJACOB
A few more to start the W/E A couple of images of Immingham Depot from the roadside. Such a view is impossible now due to the plasterboard factory. 37.358 P+O Containers leaving Grimsby for Cleethorpes. Not common to see locomotives in this section of track 16/11/90 37.069 passing Roxton Sidings on an unidentified date. suspect may have been taken same time as single image posted earlier of Roxton Siding Signal box. Only time I ever caught a locomotive working here. Another site that has changed An ex GNR somersault signal at Waltham 6/89. Currently the old trackbed is a combined cycle/walkway and the signal post is no more. A pair of images taken a few minutes apart 60.064 being held in sidings and then 60.081 heading the other direction 20/2/92. An earlier image at Barnetby from 9/11/90 of 47.446 and a motley selection of wagons An NPower 59 light locomotive heading into Barnetby 21/6/96 I seem to vaguely remember spotting the roof outline off A180 at Ulceby area and then made the assumption she would pass Barnetby soon after. I wasn't alone. 31.541 and observation coach passing Brocklesby 5/93 Edited December 10, 2016 by DOCJACOB
bazjones1711
Interesting pic of 47446 , behind the tanker is a BSSC PTA iron ore tippler flanked by two RFQ rotary match wagons possibly returning from Doncaster works after repair
DOCJACOB
Firstly I suspect another rather illicit bunk onto Immingham TMD circa 12/89 hence the moody dark atmospheric shots. In a rush so not everyone identified. Back to my usual haunt and appears to be a selection taken from 7/8/9. I must have been there a few hours as 37.719 appears twice but there are no ore workings? 37.719 light 37.255 with just 2 loaded bogie bolsters 37.209 Phantom with empty oil working 37.241 light 31.302/31.155 empty oil working 47.380 loaded oil working and giving it the "beans" 37.128/37.285 light 37.719 on return working from Grimsby Docks at a guess Edited December 10, 2016 by DOCJACOB
DOCJACOB
First 1/2 of 91 seems to have been spent infrequently hanging over a fence off a farm track to the west of Brocklesby station for a change 31.286/31.210 on empty oil 47.237 isn't really taxed with this load! 47.308 with some ferry wagon types 56.086 interesting as first 2 hoppers are hooded types and I done ever remember regularly seeing them in the area 37.10 light 47.417 light 47.226 Seagull light 31.156 /31.126 oil working ex Immingham 47.310 probably same working as 47.308 on different day Finally unidentified DMU to break the monotony of freight workings.

ForestPines
Thanks for posting that shot of the GNR concrete post that survived for many years at Waltham station. DOCJACOB
Spent much of the day at Ludborough and will add something to the LNER Grain wagon thread tomorrow. Firstly a few aimless hours snapping in various days 2/92. The change was obvious with increasing numbers of 60's. Particularly only one of the ore workings was a class 60 though I don't think double 37's lasted much longer on this traffic. 60.003 light locomotive 60.067 oil working 60.049 empty ore 37.128 light locomotive 37.128/37.202 on lengthy empty oil 37.225/37.377 on full ore heading to Scunthorpe. Usually heard them before seeing them at bridge over A180 from my vantage point next we more to 11/90 and the area of the old goods yard at Brocklesby. Didn't venture here often and pretty sure its fenced off now anyway. I guess around this time access to the platform was stopped on closure of the station to passengers 47.115/47.212 on hefty oil working unidentified 47 empty oil Finally, while looking through the box I have 2 images from virtually the same spot at Barnetby though 9 years apart 20.112/20.061 60.066 oil working Edited December 12, 2016 by DOCJACOB
DOCJACOB
Still in my usual haunt First lot are from 14/11/90 37.421 Vale of Rheidol 60.003 Christopher Wren 37.219 light locomotive 37.893 light locomotive and assume heading back to Ripple lane 47.319 Norsk Hydro hauling 47.307 Bunting 47.187 with oil working Next short few are taken 21.2.92 again at Brocklesby 47.319 with empty oil (wonder if had seen bucket and water from last image!) 47.010 with empty oil 47.402 (by now had extra number on nose and lettering Phoenix) 20.096/20.185 the almost obligatory pair of 20's ex Grimsby Docks on stainless steel coils?
DOCJACOB
Just a few for tonight. Firstly a couple of single random images Its Friday again and the departmentals trundle off, no date and no I/D for some obscure reason. The end of Weelsby Road bridge. Currently this is now a large flat junction on Peakes Parkway. It was a Sunday and probably about 15 years ago. Next back to my usual haunt and all taken 11/2/92 158 on Manchester service. Currently now 170 on this run. 47.519 light 31.553 ex Pyewipe (if noted correctly one of my only two 31 sightings there) 60.067 James Clark Maxwell
RP82
Me been a local boy I must say this is a great thread Its brings back memories of my Dad taking me to the cattle dock out side GY Town on summer evenings waiting for the HST from London and occasionally seeing a 37 or 47 running light to or from Cleethorpes. On your bunk round IM in December 89 it looks like the shunter is, judging by the double arrow on the battery box and cab side depot plate is 08388. 185s now rein supreme on the Trainspennines again as class 170s have now all gone to Chiltern. Please keep the pics coming.
DOCJACOB
Just a few today. Regrettably back to my old tricks of snapping but omitting the I/D! Thanks for reminding me its 185 class now. Should know much better as was on 18:34 ex Grimsby on Tuesday en route to Birmingham and looked like a 185 to me, especially as the number was plastered on the front! No idea of date. Pretty certain some, maybe not all, from same day as the trees and ballast seem to match. DOCJACOB
Final batch for tonight and we have some I/D and even some dates! Firstly 10/90 Unidentified 47 suspect on of the unofficial named Tinsley jobs. 60.019 Wild Boar Fell I have a funny feeling some of the test acceptance duties were on Scunthorpe Ore workings as some odd randomly allocated 60's were to be infrequently found on this working 37.378 light locomotive 37.421 (I guess from earlier posted image) Next we move to 6/92 37.503 empty oil 60.028 coal hopper's 47.212 oil working 144.007 Not sure what specific working this chap was on. I wouldn't really fancy (other than for comedy value) a outing as far as Lincoln, Newark or even Doncaster on one of these! DOCJACOB
Tonight we will move out to Barnetby in the days when station was staffed and semaphores abounded. All images date from Autumn 1990 47.402 on long empty oil working 31.207/31.288 empty oil working from other end of the same platform 37.098 hauling 31.199 and 47.033 37.258 with short coil working 150.143 with what appear to be extra large numerals on front? 37.408 Loch Rannoch going the long way round Barnetby (a particularly fine semaphore was just ahead of her) 37.004/37.106 light locomotive 47.299 47.050 with larger numerals and possibly car transporter wagons. 37.023 light locomotive Edited December 15, 2016 by DOCJACOB
DOCJACOB
A few for the W/E and have to be honest covering most of what was known as Humberside? Firstly a 2 views in Cleethorpes 15/8/89 with the extensive sidings still in existence. Not sure where these were actually taken from ( ? in vicinity of old turntable) Note old 6w tank wagon and floodlights for Mighty Mariners. For the pub quiz anoraks Grimsby Town's ground is actually in Cleethorpes. Unidentified 101 47.314 Next ex GNR 3rd at Waltham Windmill 31.212 heading away from Grimsby on "back road" to Immingham (chimney of Tioxide in background and a locomotive class I very rarely spotted in the Grimsby area) ADM Track Recorder at Pyewipe Junction 1/90 (an impossible image now due to road changes in the area) Stallingborough 8/89 with the leaning signal box. ForestPines
The shots of Cleethorpes carriage sidings look like they might have been taken from the top of the old sea wall that ran from Suggitts Lane towards Cleethorpes a few yards inland from the modern sea wall. 31/4s used to be very common in the area - in the mid 80s the standard formation on the South Transpennine route was a 31/4 with 4 or 5 Mk1s. I don't think Waltham Windmill had had 6 sails for very long when that was taken. In my oldest memory of it, there were only 2!

DOCJACOB
Mainly double headed 47's tonight with a couple of randoms for balance! First 4 are at Brocklesby junction and we have; 47.380/47.010 with 31.205 sneaking away light circa 9.90 Then 2 unidentified 47's 47.294/47.115 taken 10.12.90 47.319 Norsk Hydro/47.307 Bunting taken 14.11.90 You get some idea of the length of these loads Next we move to east and were hanging over a hedge again 47.423 Sceptre/ another 47 taken on 14.12.90 47.319 Norsk Hydro/47.380 Immingham both definitely giving it the beans again on 22.11.90 20.046/20.095 light 22.11.90 60.019 Wild Boar Fell on ore working 22.11.90 Finally we move to Barnetby 47.295/47.054 The 158 is a random image and may have been fortuitous its undated but i have memory of odd cross country service ending up Worcester way. I may have inadvertently snapped it? Edited December 19, 2016 by DOCJACOB
DOCJACOB
Late home from work so just a few today Firstly couple of images at West Marsh sidings 47.209 Herbert Austin 15/3/91 37.509 undated Then back to my usual haunt out Brocklesby way All taken on14/3/91 except the last single DMU image which is undated 20.176/20.098 obligatory 2 to Grimsby 150.144 Dont remember Sprinters with large numbers on side as standard 31.286 under the grime with a minimalist empty oil working 56.102 Scunthorpe Steel Centenary 47.226 Seagull with ostensibly another working into Grimsby unidentified DMU
RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted December 20, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 20, 2016 The unidentified DMU is a class 121, most likely 55032, 33 or 34 which towards the end of their careers were Tyseley based. The rest of the class were all WR based. Unusually there is no set number on the front, would have expected a 'Txxx' for Tyseley. It appears to be in passenger service and not departmental, so after 1992. Dave
DOCJACOB
Thanks for the DMU I/D Back to my old trick of snapping but not recording dates/numbers! Must be more up to date than usual as the junction has been remodelled and the station restored to a habitable state. Also quite significant changes in locomotive livery too
DOCJACOB
A few for today. Mostly from my usual haunt at Brocklesby but 3 of my old friends the Bluespot Fish Vans. Firstly and both unidentified. Guess early spring 91? red stripe 56 and guess a Romanian job with the front grill shape? 47 and 31 (not the most common pairing) on empty oil working Next lot taken on 16/9/91 47.348 St Christophers Railway Home 37.507 Hartlepool Pipe Mill on Grimsby working 60.027 47.060 Halewood towing 37.891 31.205/31.304 37.351/37.377 on empty ore Hard to credit next images are taken 19 years ago outside Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. Currently now part of Sainsbury car park and the wagons have moved to Lincolnshire Wolds Railway. Also in the background of one image is the dock area the triathletes used to swim in where the ex Humber Ferry has been scrapped and only Ross Tiger still remains
ForestPines
I recall the Heritage Centre hiring a Rocket replica to chuff up and down the track outside on one random Saturday - I have absolutely no recollection as to why! DOCJACOB
Usual haunt and probably same workings but many different locomotives.
