Focalplane
Further details of the cattle dock at Shipston can be found on the Warwickshire Railways site. http://warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/shipstononstour.htm The unpenned area next to the ramp was for loading horses. Note also the setts under the rails for good drainage when hosing down the cattle pens! http://warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrss538.htm The collection of photos show some details which could apply to any small goods yard. Popular Post coachmann
The sprayed track left an impression and so the coark was cut back and then shamferred with an electric sander... Looking back the other way, the solitary Code 83 point bent to a slight curve, and the bullhead points are also bent to suit the location.... New track starts at the magnets between the rails and is on a camber through the points although the yard point on the left is on the flat... Entrance to new Down yard.... Camber is the opposite way on the 'S' bend...

They provide me with a ready made design for a goods yard and something on which to base the one at Carrog Arms, hopefully. The station was one of the earliest built, being a branch of the Stratford Moreton Tramway. The part from Moreton to Shipston was upgraded by the GWR to a light railway. Like most rural branchlines it never made any money. Several books have been published on the line. Paul
Ruffnut Thorston
In case it is of interest, Cambridge custom Transfers does 7mm scale transfers. I used the Ruabon ones for a Toad and there is nothing else on the sheet to suit your location. A shame they were not produced to suit areas rather than alphabetically. It would be nice if someone was to do GWR / WR Brake Van allocations in areas for 4mm.... Now that thre are many GWR brake vans about....someone coud do well? Quick question.... Do Brake vans based at Croes Newydd have that painted on, or more simply Wrexham?
tender
Hi Larry, the hinged blades on the code 83 turnout do stick out somewhat in that view, are you sure you can live with that. The new bullhead turnouts and track look great.
Popular Post coachmann
Painting of the rails and weathering the track brings the thing to life, and yes I can live with hinged blades as much as I can live with 00 gauge.... A thought occurred to me. Having moved the points forward, I could now extend the Up platform to take six coaches and it would be scale length! Andrew P
Talking of 'drop downs', that's me every time I enter and leave the shed. I think PGH and I will have to make a lifting flap this year. And talking of outside in the garden, New Code 100 track is to replace all the Code 75 soon. It's an AGE thing mate, hahah
BobM
I am a sucker for ready made buildings and could not resist this GWR signalbox. The colouring isn't brilliant but the price is (from Trackshack). Oxford Rail won't recognize their baby when I've done with it.... WEB GWR Cambrian box 1.jpg Is it a copy of any signal box that exists? The vestibule extension often contained a lavatory so I wonder why there might be one downstairs... WEB GWR Cambrian box 2.jpg Hi..... I too have purchased one of these ready made items for my Cambrian Street layout.....will see how you adapt it....repaint it perhaps....? Regards always... Its also desirable to have a stop which automatically springs into position when you lift the flap to avoid disasters if you forget to drop the flap and start running trains! Ducking under the track every time you enter and exit the shed can be a pain - especially for the old folks (like you and me Larry !) County of Yorkshire
If you're looking for a GWR/BR Toad Brake van in BR Grey, the new Hornby offering is currently available from Kernow MRC for £9.99 http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/53556/R6766-WSL-Hornby-Toad-Brake-Van-number-W68724-in-BR-Grey-livery That's not the new AA15 release - the handrails are moulded, not seperately fitted, and the couplings are from the neolithic age...
