Rob,

Fantastic article in MR - I really enjoyed reading it. Alone it was worth the cost of the magazine.

Pleased to hear you are on the exhibition trail again next month. You will have to make a trip to the frozen north one day to show one of your layouts! :bye_mini:

Morning David.

The furthest north I'm venturing this year is Staffordshire.

Mutton is at the Midland Small Layout Showcase in Staffordshire in June.

I bought Model Rail today, purely on the strength of the ovine article, but then realised that I had already read Re6/6's copy last weekend, so I felt a little sheepish.

Horrocksford.

By way of compensation CK, here is a Norman Lockhart view of Mutton.

Hope it all went well, dear Heart, I guess you must be packing it all away by now?

By way of no compensation whatsoever, I assembled a kitchen unit this afternoon and am now knackered.

Nailsea is next weekend CK, 6th April etc.

All I am packing away (with help from colleagues) is the Cardiff City v Chelsea footy.

Morning all.

Posted elsewhere but added here for continuity. A few photos taken by Norman at Nailsea.

Lovely images and Norman has managed to capture the dynamic nature of hasty shunting, before the train crew get back to their bothy for another brew, a round of cards and another gossip about the latest antics of the new college boy Area Manager.

CTMK has just brought me some elevenses, most agreeable.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Mutton today Rob, excellent layout.

Unfortunately, it was raining during Norman’s visit! However, he was rewarded by the strange appearance of CK’s Class 33.

I saw the layout at the Taunton meet today, and a very good layout it is too. Up there along with the work of Chris Nevard and others.

Rob having followed your Ovine series of works virtually on here I just wanted to say that my first encounter in the real world did not disappoint. A real cracker, thanks!

Morning all.

Mutton is due to appear at the Midland Small Layout Showcase.

Location for the show is Armitage in Staffordshire.

There appear to be some very fine layouts there and as such I have a few jobs to attend to on Mutton to ensure it looks the part.

I need to change the wooden extentions which support the fiddle yards at either end. I have a few ideas and will update accordingly.

Stock wise, all is good. The motive power will be cleaned and tweaked.

It does rather look as if, for now at least, the late crest version of 30583 is a non-starter. Try as I might, I cannot eradicate a limp which currently precludes it's use, even at home. I suspect a gear problem as the chassis rolls freely if the middle gear that transfers from worm to drive axle is removed.

At present then, three of the Radials will travel, along with a 700 for back-up.

Morning all.

Just under two weeks to go to Mutton's visit to Staffordshire.

The layout supports have been revisited and a trial erection is planned this week to ensure all is correct.

30583 has been the subject of a major overhaul which has seen a  replacement wheel set and gears.

Interesting fact. The Kermit green wheels are four pounds cheaper than the black version. A dab of black paint and we are none the wiser.

A period of running in will follow but early indications are encouraging.
