Indomitable026
I've just stuck the track down and ballasted it. I now have wait for it to dry, as such because I'm in a track building mode I'm going to give a Scale Seven point a go for my Highland Sulzers project. It will be a step by step photo guide on the build. If you're interested have a look on my Highland Sulzer Thread. I'm no expert, it won't be the definitive guide, just my way of doing things....
RMweb Premium HillsideDepot Posted August 30, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 30, 2013 I like the way the font is larger when refering to the larger scale layout.
Indomitable026
I like the way the font is larger when refering to the larger scale layout. ha ha every now and again the font goes very small all by itself, I don't know why. so I adjust it back up - obviously too much
yorkie_pudd
The point and siding track work is looking good and not as big a curve as I thought. A bit a scenic slap and you wouldn't know it had been changed. Just needs the pasty on a flatbed test to see how smooth running and if the pasty stays or falls off. rob D2
I can t believe Nigellas in her 50s....which would make me her toyboy at 41.... I can t believe the cost of constructing a full roundhouse using the Bachmann modules... I can definitely believe it's not butter...

yorkie_pudd
No Pasty stays around long enough... Obviously your not planning correctly to have enough to nourish on for the day and have a pasty train in the siding. This also requires a usable tanker train to keep liquid (alcho) refreshment to ease down thy said pasties so more thought is needed in full trackside planning operations. I'm sure Viagra could help. guess I have missed a point here on how a big waterfall in Canada helps with pasties on Ditd
john flann
Hi, I keep logging on to this thread to find out something about 'St Blazey'-I'm interested, but all I seem to see is a lot of stuff that seems completely OT. Can we get back to the subject matter?
Indomitable026
Right, back to it then.. Now ballasted prior to ballasting the rails were soldered to the brass screws. Only then do I cut through the joint once the ballast is dry and the track is firmly held.
Indomitable026
Your brass screw hiding msut be top-notch! Despite staring at the scene for so long at Midland Railex I dint even notice that there were any brass screws! Perhaps I'm giving too much away here..... BTW this has all been done before, I'm not claiming any ideas here.
yorkie_pudd
probably the camera angle or does the sleep run over the joint, as one end looks to be in front and other end is behind joint. still impressive work there Damian and only just noticed inside track has similar bend doh

The whole lot will get cut through with a fine razor saw.
john flann
Thank you, that seems a nasty wiggle in the track, is it not possible to site the point(s) further along the curve and so avoid it?

What get back on topic so you have a 'pop' at my trackwork, ha ha No its not preferable, I'm trying to maximise the length of the loops. Its the telephoto nature of the shot, the wiggles you refer to are more 5 feet radius. They are only freight loop/ sidings
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted August 31, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 31, 2013 I would go and relax after all that hard work on the track Go have one of these.
