Still plenty of DCC MK2F BSOs in Intercity

Building pile seemed to be diminishing but still plenty of Bluebell stuff there.

I feel ghoulish to mention this and I’m sure they’ll be some mixed feelings on any bargains to be found but Hattons have just announced their closure and launched a closing down sale.

Hattons have the Rapido Crimson DCC-ready W&U pack for £175.47 (4 in stock) and DCC ready Titfield packs at £194.97 (5 in stock).

EDIT: All gone now.

They did also have a single brown W&U pack at the same price, but it... erm

.. 'fell into my Trunk' before I could post ;-)

Kernow have five versions of the Dapol Class 73 at 85 quid - 50% off. (easiest way to find them is sort by price low-to-high and they'll be on the first page)

https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/c/1788/Diesel-and-Electric-Locos

The Model Centre have had the Bachmann Station Pilot set on for 165 for a while now - to me it's a great price for loco and three rolling stock - not to mention track oval etc. Early BR crest, so lots of branchline potential.

Some big discounts in the Hornby New Year sale.

Hornby is now offering double collectors points on the final items in the sale section, the (much mentioned!) Lion train pack is still £129.98 but you will get £26 back in rewards making it just over £100

https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lmr-centenary-1930-lion-train-pack-era-1-r30232

If you area member of TopCashback you can get a further 5% money back into that account, worth £6.50, making it under £100

EDIT: it’s out of stock but the points thing is still available on other stuff in the sale, £43 back in rewards on the rail adventure HST pack (that frustratingly I bought last week!)

I think it doubles the 15% back CC members get too, it's showing 6534 points for me if I was to buy the HSTs, making them just over £150. Tempted!

Not a model railway bargain as such, but my local Lidl has these storage containers in stock. £1.99 (were £2.99) for a pack of four.

They’re a perfect size to store kitbuilt wagons and the like - as modelled by my kitbuilt GWR Mink C! Works out at 50p each; I might go and get a few more.

Kernow has the lowest price so far on Hornby R30087 Wartime Black A3 "Lemburg" at £139

Seems a bit of a shame they're slow sellers across multiple retailers including Hornby themselves. I quite fancy Gresley pacifics in wartime black I've just been building a tight radius curve layout and can't use one the way it should!

One new sound fitted turbomotive at Hattons at 203, 50 cheaper than anywhere else currently

https://www.hattons.co.uk/880964/hornby_r30134txs_class_8p_turbomotive_4_6_2_6202_in_lms_crimson_lake_digital_sound_fitted/stockdetail

Edit: that went fast.

Changing gears then - Elaine's Trains have a good range of 2nd hand and their 2nd hand prices haven't seen as much of the inflation as some other retailers and online auction platforms: https://elaines-trains.co.uk/index.php?pg=l

Example, once these are sold out, prices start to climb - 75 quid with DCC is similar to prices for non-dcc or even new on auction sites https://elaines-trains.co.uk/index.php?cat=37517

Hornby SWT 4vep on eBay.  Has a 20% off code that makes it a decent price.  Two left at time of posting.

Hi,

Excuse my ignorance but how do you get 20% off?.

Hi All,

Note when I bought a SWT 4 VEP from Kernow and selected Royal Mail I was charged £15 for postage.

Regards

Nik

eBay is pretty helpful here and gives you a hint below the price details.

It would be more helpful to just apply the lower price automatically but there you go...
