RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted September 10, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 10, 2018 DAS000601 brings back a lot of memories as my old man was a signaller in Chester 3a in the very early 80's. I can remember going with him on the afternoon shift and the odd visit on a Saturday afternoon watching all the classic BR blue diesels heading for the North Wales coast great times indeed and of course watching the steam specials around that time until he transferred down the road the Green Lane crossing box now that's a different story taking his lunch to him as we lived that close at that time. Great pictures keep them coming Cheers Colin

Regards, Ian. 641 and 651 are indeed both 40105 - it works a train off Birkenhead in 649 - I checked the photographs using a magnifying glass and the number 40105 is clearly readable on both 641/651. It's likely there is a good few hours between the photos. 642 has been corrected, it's a 4-character headcode so couldn't be 105.

Quick question - will we be seeing any of the interior of Rock Ferry box in due course? There are some of Rock Ferry in my "blue" period, we'll see them eventually, it wasn't a place I visited often unfortunately. I have a lot more in later times, including when the panel was fitted with the 10 lever frame and then when the final panel was fitted, but they are a long, long way off. The view has changed again of course, all the buildings on the right of my shot have been demolished and the bridge has been strengthened.
