RHTT 2018

Recommended Posts

Two 20s, 20302 and 20303 Max Joule, ran from Crewe-York today (pictured passing Rotherham*). Almost certainly for the Yorkshire circuits. Something else ran Barrow Hill-York earlier on (I was busy) - edit: apparently a Deltic for a railtour tomorrow.

*Sun the wrong side, as they've recently put up some thin mesh on the "sunny side" of that bridge, which was already getting hard to photograph from due to the trees encroaching. I had no time to go and find another location, as they were running early. Still, if photographing trains was straightforward, it wouldn't be fun.

It’s so nice not to be involved in any RHTT work this season, might get more than 2 weeks out of my overcoat now!

Had I stayed with Colas I’d have been doing the north wales coast and Cambrian circuit as well as the one that runs to Worksop out of Toton, I was lined up to learn it when I handed my notice in

Two of the 57s and a pair of the 37/6s espied on respective sets at Stowmarket this morning, at least one of the Tractors were running.

C6T.

57002 and 57003 worked the first North Norfol circuit, 3S01

37605 and 37606 worked it today.

I'll post some pics at the weekend, my son is down at the moment.

Out & about around London yesterday, caught a few of the RHTT workings out on the circuit:

Chiltern RHTT 3J04 (this year operated by Freightliner) at Marylebone.

66510 & 66522 (which has lost its SHANKS lime green branding)

One of the Broxbourne - N. London workings, 3S81, in the hands of GBRF 66726 & 66721, seen near Kensal Rise.

MPV DR98922 & DR98972 fitted with Sandite tanks, was in operation at Clapham Junction. I think this is an Effingham Jn - Effingham Jn working.

Due to the timing of the RHTT past me - dark evening and very early morning, it's not one I can photograph.

But 37424 and 37218 sounded good on 3J11, having replaced the 66s that were on earlier this week.

Cheers,

Mick

The 3S62 Margam-Margam has several different routings depending on day of week. Twice a week it goes up the Rhymney Valley as far as Bargoed, in daylight. Pink pair 66.185 and 66.115 approach wrong road for the last few hundred yards into Bargoed 09Oct18.
