RMweb Gold stovepipe Posted April 7, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 7, 2017 There's another one of a 9F at Annfield Plain in the same batch which might be new I suppose. http://topticl.zenfolio.com/p175454229/h872bb902#h872bcbdd
Popular Post johndon
I've posted a number of Stephen McGahon's photos in this thread but he's sent me another batch. Two of which show 37080 & 37010 on an iron ore train first heading past Stanley on the way to Consett and then heading back down from Consett past Annfield Plain with Pontop Pike television transmitter in the background. Stephen's photos are always of the highest quality but, IMHO at least, the second is probably the best photo taken on the line that I've ever seen... Axlebox
...Dr Dave Dunn was at the Mining Institute model railway show today with proof pages from the "Steam Memories" book on the Tyne Dock - Consett line (and very nice it looked to...particularly liked the iron ore hoppers being tried out and loaded with coal at Ashington)

runs as required
I thought it was Easter Island for a moment. Yes I agree. They are very spectacular, about 6 or 7 metres high and beautifully sited - in all weathers. dh
Porcy Mane
The lower one always reminded me of Sage the Owl (from the herbs). P
johndon
Another one from Stephen McGahon with a DMU (one of the railtours run for the Stockton to Darlington 150 celebrations in 1975) passing over the ECML at Ouston Junction with the line from Ouston Junction to South Pelaw Junction in the foreground.
Michael Delamar
Not sure if this has been mentioned already. Trains annual 1964 has an excellent 11 page article on the Tyne dock Consett workings. Mike Edited August 17, 2017 by Michael Delamar

Porcy Mane
What a fantastic alternative motive power. What date was this? I reckon it could be late Sept. 1966. Somewhere I have the dates of when the IO's were worked by the Class 24 & 25's as single units. (Soldering iron is fired up at the moment so I can't go searching.) Looks like the photo could have been taken on a Sat. or Sun. (via Gateshead) or as it's evening after the Biddick Lane crossing box had been switched out. We could always ask Mr Watson via his photo site. https://ironroad.smugmug.com/1960s-Steam-Finale/i-QZNKNmB/O P

johndon
Bill is a superb photographer, just yesterday he sent me a couple more of his photos to put on my website one of which is a formation that I've never seen a photo of before, certainly not on the Consett line...
