Just taken delivery of my Zebedee package, very impressed with the moulding and overall delivery .. roof box and glazing unexpected. This is the second time I’ve used NIU .. great attention to detail with quality as a brand being most apparent.

Please to hear you're delighted with the kit. Don't forget to post up a pic of the completed model.

@NiuModels Just wondered if you had any idea when the next batch of snowploughs are due and willing to share?

Hi, We're just catching up with another batch of Water Tenders, then it back to another batch of U19 & U20 ploughs. Should be early April.

A few weeks back a customer asked me whether I could make 'what-if' armoured version of the WD Austerity.

We started off with the armoured mock-up built by the Vulcan Works in 1943 and bounced around a few ideas based on the German WW2 armoured BR50, 52 & 55 locos. We finally settled on an developing an armoured cab version.

Some CAD time later and a test print and this is the result.  The kit is designed to fit the Bachmann model and consists of:- Armoured loco cab, armoured tender cab, tender axle box covers, Westinghouse pump cover, front steps and buffer beam snowplough.

A bit different, I think you would agree.

Every now and again something comes along which makes you say "I wish I modelled that era"!

Were they not arming trawlers that early on?

Probably with a lot smaller barrelled guns - and I wonder what the axle weight of this thing is - the ex-GE being well known for needing lighter stuff.

Completely crumbled when I saw this…….email sent!

Logic went something like this:

interested in history - especially 20th century naval history …… yep

         Modelling interest 1938……..yep

Area of interest LNER north eastern area……yep

Always wanted one of these gun sets……yep

Modelling Leeds Northern route………er, unlikely to see one of these

         Rule One triumphs………oh yes😁

Looking forward to seeing this trundling along….

These are fantastic looking sets of wagonry. Very impressive indeed. I would love to be able to justify the Midland one going through Carlisle in the 1930s or later but I doubt they made it up that way with those guns. Though if somebody could supply evidence to the contrary, I would be delighted. My dad would appreciate it if evidence of them going through Edinburgh could be found. That would be g

his Christmas present sorted. However could the MR bogies find a use under other wagons? I don’t have Essery Vol.2 to hand but may get a chance to check it out in a day or two. Amazing models.
