cornish trains jez
Not sure how I’ve missed this one for so many months. Looking good so far! The best class 50 out there (in any scale) currently is the CJM version of which I have 3 examples. It’s the pinnacle of the most realistic looking 50. Lots to live up to Accurascale! Early photos of the Accurascale version are looking good but it’s the front end and cab windows that 00 gauge manufacturers have struggled with in the past so far. Can’t wait to see the final versions emerge…

Covkid
Been meaning to mention earlier in response to Andy Y's message about class 50s on MGRs through Stafford. The piccie of 50022 running round at Cannock Road junction (Wolverhampton low level) had the headcode 6K38 wound up. That of course would have been a WTT service rather than a 6Lxx LMR internal STP special. Imho class 50s definitely worked timetabled coal trains between Staffordshire and Ironbridge PS but i suspect they were covering class 47 diagrams. I am away from my copy of Mike Hollick's book "Changing engines" at the moment

Roy I loved 50007 being repainted, and wished a HST set had been (as it turns out I only had to wait 32 years and hey presto there was a fleet of them, though I hope a rake gets saved in this condition but it looks like they are off to Mexico). It gave BR an express loco for GW 150. If only in 1985 the mainline preserved diesel ban was still being maintained, we could have had a few hydraulics on the mainline with accurate stock still. never understood why 50040 was renamed ? however 50007 without D400 in 1990’s condition is a range gap for me in Accurascales current offering. Someday I hope we will see 50007 and D400 like this again, just as much as I hope to see 50008/15 in Eng Blue/Dutch as a pair again… I was one of a half dozen to see 008/015 on their last night as a duo on BR metals, at Longsight of all places. RMweb Gold Geep7 Posted September 13, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 13, 2023 A couple of photos from my father's collection.... 50005 Collingwood arriving at Didcot. It looks pre-refurbished to me (no headlight), so probably around about 1980. 50033 Glorious in Large Logo at, I think, Bristol Temple Meads. Can anyone confirm that? Both photos by Malcolm Chinery I have loads of Class 50 photographs taken by my father to scan in. The dates for release back into traffic after refurbishment vary between the two publications by a few days or in some cases a several weeks so I've gone with both and put the the Saunders / Clough book's dates in brackets where it differs (there is a slight discrepancy in the order of refurbishment in the Saunders / Clough book as well, with 50 042 jumping the queue in their list). The dates when they were called to works and when the work began however are from the Marsden book. In several cases they arrived at Doncaster with other work due to take place, but were reclassified for refurbishment once strip down had started. In all probability there was a gap of several days between being released from Doncaster and actually being put back into revenue earning traffic at their home depots, plus in a few cases defects caused delays in going back to home depots. In the case of 50 028 it received collision damage while at Doncaster and had to be repaired again before being released to the WR! In order of refurbishment completion they are as follows : 1st = 50 006, to works 29/9/77, work began 21/2/78, to traffic 13/11/79 (14/11/79) in blue livery with blanked headlight aperture, large logo by 2/84. 2nd = 50 017, to works 21/6/79, work began 26/7/79, to traffic 5/2/80 (9/2/80) in blue livery with blanked headlight aperture, large logo 12/83. 3rd = 50 019, to works 27/7/79, work began 14/9/79, to traffic 31/3/80 (29/3/80) in blue livery, large logo by 4/84. 4th = 50 001, to works 29/11/79, work began 30/11/79, to traffic 9/4/80 (30/4/80) in blue livery, large logo by 8/84. 5th = 50 047, to works 13/12/79, work began 16/12/79, to traffic 12/5/80 (23/5/80) in blue livery, large logo by 6/84. 6th = 50 013, to works 7/1/80, work began 21/1/80, to traffic 7/6/80 (26/6/80) in blue livery, large logo by 9/84. 7th = 50 023, to works 9/4/80, work began 11/4/80, to traffic 10/8/80 (15/8/80) in LL. 8th = 50 003, to works 21/2/79, work began 21/3/79, to traffic 17/9/80 (19/9/80) in LL. 9th = 50 004, to works 2/5/80, work began 8/5/80, to traffic 29/10/80 (31/10/80) in LL. 10th = 50 038, to works 25/4/80, work began 2/6/80, to traffic 12/11/80 (11/11/80) in LL. 11th = 50 032, to works 15/8/80, work began 18/8/80, to traffic 31/12/80 in LL. 12th = 50 022, to works 28/5/80, work began 11/6/80, to traffic 19/12/80 in LL. 13th = 50 015, to works 11/9/80, work began 17/9/80, to traffic 11/2/81 (19/2/81) in LL. 14th = 50 020, to works 14/10/80, work began 15/10/80, to traffic 6/3/81 (10/3/81) in LL. 15th = 50 035, to works 5/11/80, work began 20/11/80, to traffic 27/3/81 (5/5/81) in LL. 16th = 50 012, to works 5/11/80, work began 20/11/80, to traffic 5/5/81 (6/5/81) in LL. 17th = 50 0010, to works 7/1/81, work began 8/1/81, to traffic 22/5/81 (27/5/81) in LL. 18th = 50 036, to works 2/2/81, work began 9/2/81, to traffic 18/6/81 (19/6/81) in LL. 19th = 50 040, to works 24/2/81, work began 25/2/81, to traffic 18/7/81 (16/7/81) in LL. 20th = 50 045, to works 19/3/81, work began 20/3/81, to traffic 24/8/81 (21/8/81) in LL. 21st = 50 039, to works 15/4/81, work began 15/4/81, to traffic 14/9/81 (16/9/81) in LL. 22nd = 50 033, to works 29/4/81, work began 11/5/81, to traffic 12/10/81 (15/10/81) in LL. 23rd = 50 041, to works 29/5/81, work began 1/6/81, to traffic 29/10/81 (30/10/81) in LL. 24th = 50 031, to works 4/6/81, work began 11/6/81, to traffic 13/11/81 in LL. 25th = 50 008, to works 6/7/81, work began 10/7/81, to traffic 21/12/81 (4/12/81) in LL. 26th = 50 016, to works 10/8/81, work began 14/8/81, to traffic 18/1/82 (18/12/81) in LL. 27th = 50 009, to works 12/9/81, work began 15/9/81, to traffic 1/2/82 (24/12/81) in LL. 28th = 50 021, to works 9/11/81, work began 13/11/81, to traffic 5/4/82 (2/4/82) in LL. 29th = 50 037, to works 30/10/81, work began 4/11/81, to traffic 6/4/82 (7/4/82) in LL. 30th = 50 044, to works 19/11/81, work began 25/11/81, to traffic 29/4/82 (30/4/82) in LL. 31st = 50 042, to works 6/1/82, work began 11/1/82, to traffic 21/5/82 (29/5/82) in LL. 32nd = 50 029, to works 11/1/82, work began 14/1/82, to traffic 4/6/82 (8/6/82) in LL. 33rd = 50 025, to works 3/2/82, work began 8/2/82, to traffic 2/8/82 (6/8/82) in LL. 34th = 50 005, to works 2/3/82, work began 4/3/82, to traffic 13/8/82 (27/8/82) in LL. 35th = 50 048, to works 3/3/82, work began 23/3/82, to traffic 2/9/82 (15/9/82) in LL. 36th = 50 028, to works 29/3/82, work began 2/4/82, to traffic 29/10/82 (22/10/82) in LL. 37th = 50 034, to works 27/5/82, work began 31/5/82, to traffic 27/10/82 in LL. 38th = 50 024, to works 3/2/82, work began 8/2/82, to traffic 2/8/82 (16/11/82, delay due to testing problems at Doncaster) in LL. 39th = 50 026, to works 27/7/82, work began 2/8/82, to traffic 6/12/82 (8/12/82) in LL. 40th = 50 018, to works 6/8/82, work began 12/8/82, to traffic 20/12/82 (17/12/82) in LL. 41st = 50 007, to works 13/9/82, work began 16/9/82, to traffic 28/2/83 (8/3/83) in LL. 42nd = 50 046, to works 11/10/82, work began 4/11/82, to traffic 19/3/83 (21/3/83) in LL. 43rd = 50 011, to works 22/11/82, work began 26/11/82, to traffic 14/4/83 (20/4/83) in LL. 44th = 50 043, to works 6/12/82, work began 8/12/82, to traffic 4/5/83 (6/5/83) in LL. 45th = 50 049, to works 11/1/83, work began 17/1/83, to traffic 28/5/83 (15/6/83) in LL. 46th = 50 050, to works 17/1/83, work began 26/1/83, to traffic 5/7/83 (1/7/83) in LL. 47th = 50 027, to works 7/2/83, work began 2/3/83, to traffic 23/7/83 (1/8/83) in LL. 48th = 50 030, to works 31/3/83, work began 11/4/83, to traffic 14/9/83 (15/9/83) in LL. 49th = 50 002, to works 31/3/83, work began 25/4/83, to traffic 20/10/83 (28/10/83) in LL. 50th = 50 014, to works 23/5/83, work began 26/5/83, to traffic 7/12/83 in LL. Firstly, Sounds for as built - have you been able to get the original 'Hoover' Sound? I take it that only D423 would have such a sound file in run 1? Next one - its a bit anorakie - some of God's Wonderful EE Type 4 Co-Co (just so anyone dont get their hopes up that I could be talking about a 4x) in the same sentence! But some of the classes marker lights are a little lower such as the likes ofRepulse and Illustrious. I take it that this has not been included in the tooling suite? It's subtle, but noticeable. Regardless, still promises to be a superb model that's a valiant and illustrious effort to conqorer the competition. Accurascale have been so courageous an bringing new features to their models! (P.S. Fran, that's how you play on words HAA! HAA! CDA ya soon!) Edited September 21, 2023 by Torbay Express Grammar
