Class 50, By Accurascale

Recommended Posts

Just for info, that video from Locomaster profiles is no longer available on VHS, but all the footage of the Midland Scotsman, as mentioned, is on their DVD called  ‘Class 50 Finale – The Laira Years’

Per reply I had from Locomaster Profiles

“ carbon cutter “. Great name. not. Just put the word “ sustainable “ in any BS you peddle and that does it these days

I thought the low point of names was “ victim support “ on a 47. A long way from “ invincible “ !

Anyway, sorry, I digress. Back to the mighty 50s.

Which had proper names.

Could just imagine the do-gooders and politically correct......

Dreadnought - too over powering

Superb - too elietist everyone is good at something

Temeraire - oh, that's way too assertive......

Only another 47 to go......

Imagine 50013 at London Waterloo, with a Eurostar rolling in from France........

'Ark Royal' picking up the token at Bewdley...

Listening to '35 throbbing away before departure from Kidderminster brought home how much I miss bashing and working on the 50s... I still can't decide which Accurascle one to go for...!

Have pre-ordered 50149. Personally I think the Railfreight livery really suited the 50s! 🤪

If they'd kept the slow speed control & rheostatic braking during the rebuilds I wonder if they'd have been more of a freight success?!

I think I’m lucky in that respect… my preference of BR blue named with dominoes will hopefully be in run 2. So I can relax and wait.

Can anyone shed any light on which Class 50’s were active during 2010 - 2017 please? And if any of these are being done in the first batch by accurascale 😃

presumably you mean mainline, heres a quick guide. (There maybe corrections but this is relatively close)…

50007 in plain blue (from 2012)

50017 in original NSE (from 2012)

50008 in Engineers blue

50026 in large logo *dragged only

50031 in largelogo blue* on the mainline, Intercity (from 2016) * dragged only since.

50035 (50135) in Load Haul (until 2015), Blue ( from 2015)*dragged only

50044 in two tone green, plain blue

50049 in large logo

50050 in plain blue (from 2015)

others not on the mainline seen running…

50015 in large logo (ELR) - dont know how this got to the svr gala.

50019 in large logo (MNR)
50027 in Revised NSE (MHR)

50021 is unclear, it was at Polmadie openday, and the GWR, and then Tyseley in storage, it since moved to Eastleigh.. so it was about but very low key in your time period, but it wasnt active on the mainline, if it moved it was dragged.

The ultimate event however happened in 2017 and 2018…

2017 was the Old Oak Common finale… and saw a line up of 50007/17/26/44/49 and 50

2018 was the Severn Valley Class 50s at 50 event featuring 50007/8/15/17/26/31/33/35/44/49/50

As for models in that time period..

50021 is correct

50017 is almost correct (change the warning flashes on the model).

I bet Warley has a familiar ring to it:

Are you doing them in GBRf?
When are you releaseing them in GBRf?
Can you do 50014 in GBRf?
Will they come as a pair in GBRf?
Why aren't they already here in GBRf?

I’m sure that was asked by a friend and there was an answer of yes…

Ditto for…

50008/15 as a railtour pack

50019 in engineers

D400/50033 to join 50007

I think I'm in the minority in that I don't like the modern liveries some 50s have been given. Give me their old liveries any day.

Cannot wait to see the decorated sample of the NSE livery 👌

Consider it from the viewpoint of  50007/8/49 are still in service.

I wasnt a fan of two tone green and load haul, but intercity definitely wore nice.

An RES 50 would be nice as it was considered.

Absolutely, as a fan of the 50s I couldn't be happier that there are ones still running around on the mainline! 👍

My dislike of most modern liveries is more a general thing, and certainly a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things 😉

But where do you stand on D444 in two tone green ?

I would definitely have one if it were released as a special, but I haven't seen any interest in it.

Best heritage livery created in my view
