Ian_M
As far as I can see, for some reason there isn't yet a thread for this, but it looks like it will be good one: 'A Celebration of N Gauge Modelling' The Layouts James Street – South Essex Area Group Holgate – Bridlington Model Railway Club Bregenbach Im Schwarzwald – WorldWide Group Irgendwohn Strassenbahn – WorldWide Group Milfied Yard – Yorkshire Area Group Kensington Olympia – Yorkshire Area Group Long Hirston – Northumberland Area Group Small N Workings – West Sussex Area Group Ishinaka – WorldWide Area Group Grangeover Sands – North West of England Area Group Plus traders/manufacturers, plus an excuse to visit the NRM. More Details here: https://www.ngaugesociety.org/sandpit/n-gauge-york-three/ I'll be there as a volunteer steward on Sunday, and welcome visitors staying for a long weekend to come and drop into Train Trax HQ in York on Friday or Monday: https://traintrax.co.uk/2023/04/19/invitation-to-train-trax-hq
Les1952
I'll be there with Bregenbach im Schwarzwald, though I'm right opposite James Street and next to Irgendwohn Strassenbahn with its fairground music so I don't know if all my sound-fitted electric locos will be able to make themselves heard. The red push-pull set is working well though it will have a green class 141 propelling it. Also in action on the through oil train should be the very musical Taurus. d9002
Should we decide to promote another event, and should I be involved in the organisation, then I shall learn the lesson and engage the services of this forum as well as any others I can think of. RMweb Premium TheDukeOfWellingtons Posted April 24, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 24, 2023 Just a quick note for anyone driving to the event, the parking at the Museum is very expensive, the Long Stay at the Railway Station likewise. The best option would be to use the Park and Ride Service from Rawcliffe Bar, at the junction of the A1237 and the A19 to the North of the city. It is a ten-minute ride to the museum, around 20-25 minutes on the return journey (the bus has to negotiate a bit of the city centre), and buses run until after 2200 on both Saturday and Sunday. Hope this helps. 2 1

RMweb Gold Stuart A Posted April 28, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 28, 2023 Looking forward to this. Was planning on getting the train, but strike action will probably scupper that. There is a railtour with Deltic D9009 due through York on the 13th too, wonder if that's under threat now?
Jim Martin
I was really looking forward to this - especially the chance to see Kensington Olympia, which I've been following on RMWeb for years - but I realised this afternoon that it clashes with a big party we're hosting, with people travelling up to stay the weekend and all sorts. Bit of a disaster, tbh. ☹️

RMweb Premium 37058 Posted May 4, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2023 West Coast Models will be there all weekend. Come along and see what we do. Have an up, close and personal look at our very own personal collection of resprayed and detailed models, plus scratch built items of rolling stock and conversions. In addition to this, we will also have our full range of detailing parts, accessories and 3D printed models available to purchase over the weekend. We will be demonstrating kit building over the weekend, so please do come up and pick our brains. Many fully finished NGS kits will be on display, so if you're struggling with a certain kit then please do come and ask us for advice. NGS York 2023 Saturday 13th May & Sunday 14th May. RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted May 5, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 5, 2023 Hi I will be at show with Poldeen layout as well. Hopefully press coverage will like Warley pick up on no big trains but lots of Little ones on time. NRM seem reticent to advertise much with the building works going on and despite having held trade shows in the halls the idea of a mini show is new to them, hopefully this will be successful and the start of a Northern based N show. I’ve no idea why that doesn’t surprise you. The NGS are using the NRM conference centre to put on their show, primarily for NGS members and associated interested railway modellers (who will pay for entry if they aren’t NGS members). They’ll be reached via targeted marketing to members, through specialist forums like this one, and specialist media advertising/news pages: just like any other specialist privately-organised event that’s using the conference centre. The event *has* also been publicised in the local paper. Do you think the NRM publicises all other events organised by third parties using its conference centre as a venue? I don’t recall York Racecourse publicising the Easter model railway show, or the Leamington leisure Centre mailing its gym users to tell them about TINGS. The show organisers do that. When the NRM previously put on a model event they organised it directly, used the main floor of the museum, and publicised it as an NRM event. And practically, the conference centre also isn’t anything like big enough to cope with an influx of the size of “normal” weekend attendance at the NRM. But I’m still annoyed that I can’t attend owing to rail strikes plus clashing prior commitments - I’d like to see how it all works in the conference centre, and hopefully it might happen again in the future (perhaps alternating with a southern venue?) Richard OH is that how it works !!! silly me I'm on a trade stand at the racecourse and my C Rail one at the N Gauge show at the NRM. While i don't expect them to spend cash on doing it but to update the website cant be hard as all venues i know and have run show at updated their sites to say we were on . So like i said it doesn't surprise me as the NRM is government funded so they don't really care if its a success or not as their jobs don't rely on joe public paying cash at the door, and in case you don't know if your not a society member you have to pay to enter . and like all other traders we are not going out the goodness of our hearts so i hope plenty turn up and pay as well Regards Arran
