Per my suggestion that they might have 14 mm gauge wheelsets up their sleeves. 6 minutes ago, Graham_Muz said: They already have brands for 4mm (Bachmann Branchlines) and 2mm (Graham Farish) nothing says that all / any Brands within any business's portfolio have to follow any conventions. Just my bit of fun. They can call their stuff what they like. But Graham Farish is not 2 mm scale, it's 2.06 mm scale. (It's that teminology committee background again, I'm afraid.) Andrew Young
Took some photos and video of the Quarry Hunslet prototypes on the Bachmann stand on Sunday. They’re on my blog alongside my thoughts on it all. https://melynvalleyrailway.blogspot.com/2024/04/Bachmann-quarry-hunslets.html?m=1 Andrew
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted April 17 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 17 It seems the only grumbling about this launch is the decision to stick with the 16.5 trackwork, commercially obvious and better to attract new modellers to the range and the use of a new name for the range. I rather like Bachmann's NG7 term. It's so straightforward. I've always found 0-16.5 a bit of a mouthful and therefore I do hope that the use of NG7 catches on. Rather looking forward to these and hoping for the Mainline Hunslet to follow on. Rob. 10

I'm toying with an NG7 version of Sheep Dip ............or using the NG7 shed etc for a rather down at heel standard gauge industrial light railway....or........... MarcD
I have a part built 0-16.5 layout so these are just what the doctor ordered. I would be nice if they could be converted to 0-14 in the longer term. Marc
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted April 18 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 18 Given the 16.5 vs 14mm gauge difference, perhaps they should have modelled them to a different scale so the track gauge was correct! 😉 Steven B

There's precedent, with the one-time vogue for 3 ft gauge models at 5.5 mm/ft, but the problem with introducing a new scale is always lack of compatible scenic items - though 1:35 is an established military modelling / wargaming scale. MarcD
All they would need to have done is to make provision to move to wheels in to 14mm from 16.5mm. Marc 1
Butler Henderson
As Bachmann products they need a clear obvious branding to say they are not 4mm OO / OO9. There were stories of people buying Lyddle End buildings thinking they were 4mm because it said Hornby on the box. NG7 clearly does that which 0-16.5 might not to some. BingleyWorks
Well, prices have been announced, and they're doing an NG7 starter pack as well! Locos are Alice, Britomart, Una and Margaret. I've screenshotted a couple of bits from Bachmanns website and the video for those interested!

Give us chance 😆 They do look good and I’m currently deciding between red or black 😁 Nice touch with the comments about the numbers being tare weight markings not wagon numbers and that the coal wagons carried slates down from the quarries and coal up to the quarry. 1
