Many thanks chaps :drinks:

Yes Ian the mainlines dive under the station as before although I'll have to get my civil engineering hat on and build a new bridge.

Scott, I'm still undecided regarding the depot as its not just the tracks but all the building etc that I'm not sure about.

Tom, 60033 is a cracker, I love the shade of blue. Nice avatar too.

In my last post I said that I had to get my civil engineering hat on so over the last couple of weeks I have been quite busy

and here I present the results thus far.

I had to extend the previous plate girder bridge by a few sections each side and also decided that because the span was

quite large that a bridge like this would require two levels of the Wills' kit to make it look strong and sturdy.

The brickwork is all done by using the very good Metcalfe sheets, made even better when you get 9 sheets instead of the

usual 8  .

The retaining walls also use the Metcalfe sheets with foamboard for the backing to give added strength and rigidity.

I managed to find some very old Ratio fencing (probably bought well over 10 years ago) while looking for something else,

gave it a quick spray with Chaos Black and glued it onto the coping stones. I still need to get some more as I only had a

couple of lengths that could be used. This camera angle shows that I will have to paint the underside of the baseboard as

you can see bare wood. D'oh!

To finish off this update a before and after shot of the depot area.

I haven't done alot on this side of the layout since the picture progress report earlier in the month but it should give a fair

idea of depot development.

As the above pic shows I have started to cover over the tunnel with 2 layers of thick cardboard which could have gone a bit

better but its only temporary. I have also added a pair of 'Stop' signs to protect the depot / fuelling road and the depots new

sponsors have put one of their signs up.

Thats all for now, many thanks for looking.

Good to see an update Matt and I'm loving the bridgeworks it looks really good and well made, and the double deck is just right.:good:

As an aside have you thought about creating some loops within your depot area, particularly around the fuel point, so that locos can run round each other and not all get blocked in? Just a thought not a criticism.:scratchhead:

Sorry for the delayed reply Ian but I have finally changed my shift at work and now do 05:00 - 13:00 which for me is 100 times better than my old 13:00 - 21:00.

Thanks for your feedback. The plan with this service depot is that only a handful of locos will be present at the depot at any one time so there should be no need for run round loops plus I don't really get on with turnouts so the less the better, for me anyway.

I am rather pleased with how the bridge turned out. Originally I had planned to use the same sort of retaining wall that Scott used on one of his layouts but I was in my local shop in Portishead and spotted the Metcalfe stuff and purchased two packs and commenced the build.

Cheers for now,

Matt.

The brickwork is looking superb, my type of layout with 60s on the high level and low level!

Good choice 033 in BS blue, lovely model and she looks right at home on the front of the Tarmac JGAs. I haven’t given into temptation….yet!

Good to see the layout progressing.

Well its been over 7 months since I posted anything on this thread...until now.

I had planned a photo shoot for today but its far too cold to mess about up in the loft but luckily I took some video footage last month that some of you may have seen on youtube.

layouts looking good really like the depot layout not too crowded

david

Cheers David, I didn't want a depot with loads of turnouts and besides its only meant to be a small service depot with only a handful of locos present at any one time.

Hi again Matt

Looking good as ever, are they homemade trees on the embankment? I will get around to those vids by the way just as soon as I get some time in the loft!

The trees are twigs from the garden with Woodland Scenics Polyfibre for foliage. I recently bought a FMR static grass tea strainer and am still getting to grips with it

Very nice, just went back and had a read through the whole thread. Looking forward to the updates.

Regards

Scott

Cheers Scott, like I said eariler hopefully in a couple of weeks time when I hope to have further scenic work done in and around the depot and lower level mainlines too.

Whilst I listen to the crucial last day of the Premiership (lets hope City win) I thought that I would post some of the latest images taken today at Hallenby.

Below: The fuel siding which sees two Bachmann TTAs waiting for a loco to take them back for re-filling but as its a Sunday they will have to wait at least until Monday.

Below: DBSchenker 'sicknote' Class 37 is seen stabled, possibly waiting for yet another DBS 'celebrity'.

Below: Although not what we expected but welcome none the least. After a hard day on route learning Arriva Class 57/3 No.57315 comes in for fuel and I'm sure the drivers' will have a well earned cup of tea and Jammie Dodger or two.

Below: With not much happening at the depot, well it is Sunday afterall.

I decided to wander over to the nearby station and lucky enough 60042 draws its tiny engineers' train to a halt. We can see that the painters' have been out as now we have the safety yellow lines.

Below: The 'gen' was correct DBSchenker light blue 60074 'Teenage Spirit' arrived at the SD while I was at the station. A cracking loco.

And finally: Over the last couple of weeks I've been installing point motors and making a control panel for the depot. I have gone with Seep motors with the stud and probe method of operating them, power comes from my old yet reliable Gaugemaster Combi which is a fantastic little DC controller.

That's all for now folks, hope you like them.

I also hope to do some new vids later on in the week, time permitting.

Its been a very busy week up here in Hallenbyshire, what with a few choice purchases (see Class 85 thread in products) for one in particular.

I did manage to dust off and charge up the camcorder and I have compiled a couple of brand new vids.

Hope you like them.

Yes I know its been months since my last post on Hallenby but there has been a small margin of progress.

Hallenby is only supposed to be a small village that happens to be situated on the GWML (inspiration comes from Pilning in South Glos) but it now boasts 4 platforms with 3 being on the 'actual GWML' and the new number 4 on the lower level that serves Severn Beach/Henbury ( this is based on the freight-only line being made passenger friendly as is planned...)

Anyway enough chitter, chatter here is a few pics with two with nothing to do with platform 4.
