Not sure I’ve seen it in 30 years though I remember the “what shores?” advert. Does it still taste rank? ;) Obviously an acquired taste ;-) I used to drink it at student union meetings at uni (take a can in, fit in with everyone else). It has always seemed perfectly acceptable to me - not as marmite as certain past canned ales, and not too strong.
RMweb Premium Popular Post BR60103 Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 While we were doing morning coffee and newspapers, there was a sudden, terrific rainstorm. We immediately decided that the highland games were out, although it might have been interesting to see how much splash a caber can make. We spent the morning doing housework.

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 Certainly recent cans I've bought of various alcoholic substances seem to have thinner cans the in the past. Mooring Awl, 3.5 hours sleep, long awake, pink pills 2 hours sleep.. should have taken the pills earlier. Usual candidates keeping me awake, forepaws, back ,, left knee and right ankle. Still windy here, but I am going to the sailing club, I have work to do on BM, I'll bring her across to the SC from her mooring, do the work, if there's no sailing I'll leave her there and take her back over tomorrow. Must be around 40 years since I last drank a can of export, it was either that then or Tennants lager. Then I joined the RAF became 18 and spent most of my first 18 months at RAF Locking, just round the corner from a cheap cider farm £1 a gallon and 25p returned when you brought back the container. That cider farm is a bit better known now.. and the cider a bit more refined Ben the just woken up Collie is asking to go out. Has he forgiven me yet? Time to go.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 Ey up! Despite getting wet occasionally and making use of the Baz rain time off to calculate overs reduced we finished our game at about 8:20pm it was a long day! Money spent on "golden handshakes" is better spent on increasing training....short term wins mean longer term pain... Today involves a trip to my home county.. should be a good day! I was informally offered a job in Oz many years ago by the (then) Defence Minister.. on reflection it would have been a decent move but it wasn't particularly well defined. I have, like others on here, spent long periods away from this sceptre Isle. The things you start to miss are.. decent baked beans, pease pudding, black pudding but I only miss it when I get back.. strange. Shame that probably the only Defence Minister who has known about Defence is retiring.. don't see any decent replacement appearing soon. As it happens I was told about Scottish (Cummins) and Irish (Kennedy) family links. Cummins yess. But the Kenni(e)dy part of the family are from Scotland and own a Castle.... Breakfast awaits then off up the A1 I ho. Enjoy your day! Baz

Woke up to this this morning - bracnhes 4" diameter fallen off our sycamore yesterday - looks like a day plus in the garden but at least we are home now. RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 About an inch of rain yesterday, the plants look happy as the wind was only a strong breeze and is about the same this morning. There will be a lot of dead heading of climbing roses, they lose their petals very easily in heavy rain. The greenhouse floor has dried out overnight. Apart from church I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing today, it depends on how painful my neck and shoulder are. Meanwhile there is a big patch of blue sky approaching and the local forecast is dry today, up to about 18C. David
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 (edited) Good morning all, Lots of blue sky, it's still breezy and the sun is shining. Sunny spells and some blustery scattered showers are forecast. 16°C up to 23°C. Only a light breakfast for me this morning as we're off out to a Sunday lunch with Abbie & James, Joe & Gemma. I believe James is doing the cooking and Roast Lamb is on the menu. Looking forward to that as well as the couple of beers and glass of wine that I'm allowing myself today. After breakfast I've got a SatNav update to do in the car and like Tony mentioned the other day this requires the engine running so I'll have to sit in the car for at least half an hour judging by previous updates. Not driving anywhere for a couple of days and will need the SatNav working when I do. (mind you I still carry an old-fashioned map book in the car....that hasn't been updated for over 20 years!)😂 Might have time for an hour or two in The Shed before we go out. Have a good one, Bob. And I've had several emails in the past week or so to warn me that my McAfee Security is about to expire - which is pretty surprising cos' I don't use it anyway. T0ssers. The other one I had a day or so ago was to warn me that my Cloud Storage Account was about to be deleted (meaning I'd lose everything stored there) if I didn't contact them asap. I'm not overly worried cos' I don't have a Cloud account - no way am I ever going to trust someone else to keep all my info & piccies safe (and run the risk of some Herbert having a nose thru') thanks very much. Another T0sser. My Gmail junk filter catches most of those. I too have had a succession of “alerts” of increasing urgency suggesting that my cloud account is full and about to be deleted. I don’t use and don’t trust cloud storage. There is also the steady stream of “Delivery Notification” messages urging me to confirm details before a package can be delivered. I know what’s coming and where from and none of it requires address verification - you won’t fool me that way either. The Pay Pal scammers are busy too. Always easy to spot because they don’t use the correct font and most seem to think I am in the US or Australia. I have lost count of the number of times someone has suggested they wish to deposit thousands of dollars into my account. Fail. “Your phone has been heavily damaged by sixteen viruses. Click here to repair”. No. My phone is untouched by your nasty viruses because I click the little x to make your pop-up pop-down and not the link to disclose my personal information to naughty people. And one or two other regular contenders. “Australian Post” wants a $10 “verification fee” to maintain daily deliveries. Guys - it’s Australia Post without the “n” and their mail service does not require payment by the addressee. And guess what - I don’t live there. Attempts to sell me little blue pills fall on deaf ears especially when a hover-over the sender’s details (masked as something pseudo-credible) reveals it to be from a lengthy and random string of letters, numbers and “special characters” @info.za or some such Also the occasional phishing of the Nigerian kind where someone pleads with me to accept a substantial sum of money either in trust or otherwise and usually starting with “Dear Friend. How are you?” So far I am not aware of having been tricked, duped, phished or otherwise cyber-compromised. On the other hand it does seem to be routinely connected to something called RMweb which I’m not so sure about at all 🤷♂️

Shockingly abundant, profuse and casual use of profanity (such as M**** R******, S*** E*****, etc) Supports the trade in questionable M**** R****** items, often acquired illegally (i.e. without SWMBO’s approval) In comparison NakedNunBakedBeanWrestling.com is a beacon of purity and untroubled innocence!. 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 (edited) After many years of luck with not very many scam e-mails I'm now getting up to half a dozen a day but Gmail filters them all to the Spam folder. I've now won 4 different makes of air fryer, there's 6 lots of £1000 awaiting my bank details for deposit, McAfee (which I haven't got ) has now expired after umpteen dire warnings, DPD have got lots of parcels awaiting delivery along with Royal Mail and others and various other organisations need me to "respond immediately or else!" As Rick says above hovering over sender's details always reveals a random selection of letters, numbers and symbols. Popular Post Winslow Boy
Well yesterday was a game of two half's, to use that old cliche, wasn't it. Managed to avoid the torrential downpours as predicted to start at precisely at 9 am. Isn't it amazing just how cooperative mother nature is starting her 'outbursts' so precisely. The morning was quite pleasant, even took my anorak off I'll have you know. So got quite a bit done in the garden. We have been contemplating applying to the Woodland Trust for some hedging whips. The trouble is you have to have the land owner's permission, Church of England . Not a problem you would think. Well that's were your wrong as the last time we did it they kept putting it off for over a year and then said no but didn't tell us why. We suspect it had something to do with it being for a ten year commitment. It could also be because they may decide to close the church due to low attendance at some point in that time frame and sell the land. The piece of land, where we garden is quite a size and could fit about twelve houses on it. Whatever the reason is it would just be nice to know why. It was a bit embarrassing really because we had to give the grant back and it was quite a chunk of money. Anyway I digress. Where was I. Argh yes the hedging whips. It's been decided that we won't be applying, see above for reason, and will instead plant the area up with material we propagate. So I've been asked to pull my finger out and get busy with the secateurs. Good job I have that horticulture qualification then isn't it. So I spent the time taking rosemary cuttings and transplanting Geranium seedlings. Hopefully they'll do better than the first batch we took earlier in the year which apart from the odd one were a spectacular flail. This was due them being done a bit early and then having that lovely sunny weather. So that was the morning. In the afternoon the seaweed twirlers got it right and we had the predicted weather. This meant dodging thundery showers which the dog did not like but bribery prevailed as she got half of my cheese and ham toastie. Today Jim we shall be repeating the process but this time over in Cheshire at Marbury Park. Yes I know I've got my passport and had the inoculation shots - don't want to catch anything do I. If I get stuck at the border, long queue at passport control I believe I'll sos - send reinforcements we are going to a dance. Take care everyone and yes it might be raining outside but on the inside your smiling. 20 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 ' morning all from red dragon land. Overcast, chuckinitdarn midday onwards, though no thunderstorms in the revised plan from the pine cone pundits. Still feeling washed out from the recent pollen attack so not much on the agenda. Toot on the flute will be little but more often. Some new twiddly bits to get to grips with today meaning I can sit, relax 🤣 and watch the video. I am sure I can find other sitting down jobs to do rather than feel guilty because I have done absolutely nothing. I have saved dragging myself round the shops to find a top to go with a pair of trousers I picked up from George Az Doh! the other day, by finding one online and getting it sent to Store - Mr Suvvern will pick it up for me, today, as he will be passing by, anyway. Postage/expensive car liquid saved. Bonus. Time for that mugadecaf. Take care. Be good. Find some favourable options. Polly 18
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 Good morning everyone Late on parade today due to having a bit of a lie in and breakfast in bed. My first task was to lower a picture that I'd hung the other day. I'd just used the same book that the previous picture used, but after a few days, Sheila asked if I would lower it so she can see more clearly. That's earned me a few brownie points. After that, I headed to the garden to do some dead heading, pruning and weeding. The wheelbarrow is now full, so I thought I'd drink my muggertea before taking it round to the front to empty it. Well, teas all gone, so I'm off to empty the wheelbarrow. Back later Brian
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted July 16, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 Well that was a mission. SatNav update took 50 minutes! Two neighbours came over concerned that something was wrong with either me or the car and The Boss came out to make sure I hadn't fallen asleep however she did then bring me a muggatea. No time for The Shed now so I will just get changed out of working clothes into something a bit smarter and then await our cab which is due in about 45 minutes. Farewell for now. 21 1
