RMweb Premium Popular Post BR60103 Posted March 22 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22 We had our internet stop suddenly about 9:00 this morning. The internet also carries our cable TV signals and supplies our better radios. Local paper: https://www.guelphtoday.com/police/wires-crossed-waste-truck-yanks-down-traffic-signals-8488171 Toronto has been suffering major road & utility works the last year plus. Most of last summer none of the E-W street car routes were operating on their customary routes. The longest one (Queen St) was cut into many segments involving changes of vehicle (street car to bus and back). Guelph has 4 1/2 bridges going north across the river. (one is one-way) A few years ago they managed to have construction on two of them at the same time, and so close to the river that alternate routes weren't practical.
Ozexpatriate
RMweb currently very slow - and a duplicated last page to boot, at present. I've seen that several times now on different occasions. At least it doesn't give me déjà vu any more. It was completely unavailable this morning. (A bit over 12 hours ago.)

RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted March 22 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22 (edited) Good moaning from the Charente. 9 hours ago, monkeysarefun said: Apropos of nothing but woman truck drivers and pink, there is a lady owned haulage business in the Pilbara called "The Pilbara Heavy Haulage girls" who use women drivers and have pink trucks, including a 685HP Mack Super-liner. Knowing that they drive all freight configurations up to and including a 53m long quad-trailer road-train on 4500km journeys through the outback sure makes you feel inadequate in comparison when you jack knife your trailer at the tip! I managed to take my trailer to the tip yesterday and reversed it all the way to the right skip without jacknifing it. The entrance is awkward and it would be impossible to turn the trailer and car round so I have to reverse in without the trailer heading down the lorry ramp. My first ever attempt took me 10 goes. I wouldn't like to try one of those road trains though. Anyway a new day is dawning and I'm off to a n MRC lunch 6O miles north of here. I might even do a bit of trainspotting on the way home. RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted March 22 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22 Ey up! Late night getting home yesterday.. our refresher course took ages.. due to some people (including one tutor) claing to have no knowledge of thr"concussiondirectives" in cricket.. God help us!!. Interesting meeting otherwise with some familiar faces asking why I am not umpiring... having say all sorts but, in reality, its cos I don't want to... Did a bit of wire strangling yesterday.. I will fettlebit this morning as I made a hash of it yesterday.. Pah! Roadworks around Leeds are a joke. The council give dates which they never achieve and then dig roads up on a whim and await the Waze users to tell people the roads are closed.. @PupCam.. we have anew road "the East Leeds Orbital Ring Road " which has traffic lights.. which automatically go red for the non existent pedestrians.. pah! The "improvements we are having foisted on us at our local roundabout will deliver .. no financial return, will slow down the traffic flow to increase the environmental impact.. it will cost £16m and rising.. but its the 2nd worst roundabout in Leeds..not proven from accident reports.. and will increase the number of cyclists using it! (Hasn't happened any where else we have spent millions on!). No fatalities means.. its not being used to reduce safety concerns.. wot a bunch of muppets!! If they filled in the potholescyclists would use the cycle ways we have currently.. but.. uninsured cyclists who think read means go are really common in Leeds now.. Apologies for the rant but.. Have a good day! Baz
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted March 22 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22 (edited) Mooring Awl, 6 hours sleep with a couple of wake ups and turn overs, medium awake 2 hours sleep. Right ankle and forepaw complaining but not as bad as yesterday. Ben I'd like out Collie took me for his walk, he was in a hurry the first half, then slow on the second half of the patrol. Dull grey, but the great fried egg was showing itself below the clouds to the East, however a short spell of soggyness should arrive soon, hopefully it will clear quickly as i head to BM. Our million pound cycle way which ends near the sailing club is hardly used, in the half dozen years since it's been built I've seen an average of 1 person a year on it.. most still use the road along side. Ben's wide awake and playing football .. He'll stop that now... I'm heading to the kitchen. Time for breakfast. Edited March 22 by TheQ

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted March 22 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 22 (edited) A fine sunny morning with just enough clouds to the south tpo hide the sun from time to time. The breeze is strong from the northwest and it does not feel very warm. Late yesterday evening I had some very sad news, a friend at church who was one of our lay readers has died. I saw her at the beginning of February and she was her normal cheerful self. Apparently a couple of weeks ago she developed problems eating and was taken into hospital at the weekend and died a couple of days ago. They found she had cancer, she hadn't known. I've known her for many years, she used to play bridge with Mum and gave me help after Mum died. She will be greatly missed. I am hoping to start going to church again from Sunday now I can move about reasonably comfortably, it will feel very different without her there. As it is sunny I may go out this morning or I might just stay at home and enjoy sitting quietly on a bright day. For once I don't seem to have anything which needs doing urgently. RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted March 22 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22 Good morning everyone It was very sunny when I got up, but it’s turning a bit grey now, I hope I don’t get wet when I walk to the butchers shortly. Before that though, I’ll have to play hunt the wheelie bin, as the bin men NEVER return our bin to the front gate. After the butchers I’ll take a short trip to the Trafford Centre for a few more bits and pieces. After that I’ve got a free afternoon, so what’s not to like? Back later. RMweb Premium Popular Post southern42 Posted March 22 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted March 22 ' morning all from red dragon land. Sunny -ish. A lot of white cloud around. Hopefully a bit warmer than the out of sun reading of 7.2C. Off to do some Jobbies and maybe a quick toot on the flute - Not got a lot of time before collecting and stowing C&C groceries as we had to change our pick up time as our usual slot time was fully booked. I decided to go for an earlier slot rather than the later one so that it leaves me plenty of time to worry about getting dinner, afterwards. Take care. Be good. Be adaptable. Popular Post Hroth
Urghhhh.... Just sat down for a rest* after splashing some shed paint** on the side panels and legs of an Aldi "Raised Wooden Planter". You can tell that I used to build Airfix kits when I was young, I can't ignore the imperative to "paint parts before assembly"... * With a glass of orange juice and a caramel KitKat to aid relaxation. ** At one point it looked as if I had a 50 year, 40 a day Senior Service habit, going by the staining on my fingertips.
