Ron Heggs
HMMM, been nearly a month and no update. Has the modelling been suspended for the time being to finish your building work for its new room Ron? Colin Hi, Colin Yes, have been really busy with the villa reform - demolishing walls, removing CH radiators, rerouting H&C water pipes, rebuilding new walls, and building piers for the new beams which will support the ceilings in the lounge/kitchen/dining for the new open plan living area. Looks like the railway room reform will be next summer now due to the time & expense being incurred on the completely new kitchen for SWMBO Also, had a small bridge to build for a friend in the UK, who models US railroads - It's in HO gauge, single track - 1.2 metres long and 300mm high - now fully painted/weathered/packaged, for delivery by road to the UK on Wednesday by my daughter, and posted there to its final destination Will be back with the Train Shed build by the end of this week Cheers Ron

Have to say that the single track bridge you have built looks very good as well. Colin

Ron Heggs
Finally managed to fit the clock mechanism into the front gable of the Train Shed - Next step is to remove the batteries from this clock and the concourse clock, and wire them up to a dedicated supply, then the missing structral members will be replaced The existing hands will be replaced by etched components, along with the etched clock faces ... and of course the 'recycling label' will be removed
RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted December 13, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 13, 2011 Hey Ron, Looks great...how are you going to conceal the wires to the clock? Pete
Ron Heggs
Hey Ron, Looks great...how are you going to conceal the wires to the clock? Pete Hi, Pete Thanks Carefully - Sorry, within the webs of the T section structural members - A single strand of bare copper wire each side of the T section, and then painted over - The clocks only require 1.2v, so will wire in series and use a string of diodes to drop the voltage from 12v DC Will show progress as it goes along Cheers Ron

RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted December 13, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 13, 2011 But have you any evidence that the real clocks actually worked?
Ron Heggs
Good Lord! Ye've fitted a working clock Ron? Amazing as ever.... Hi, Ian Yes, you can't operate a railway to a timetable without a working clock or two. If only i could get the people to work (oops, that could be taken as politics) Cheers Ron
Ron Heggs
But have you any evidence that the real clocks actually worked? Hi, Paul Of course they worked - otherwise how could you tell if the trains were late Apparently they were working long after the station closed, and are working today at the Manchester Central Convention Complex (previously GMEX) Cheers Ron

Bob Reid
Just like the real thing..... http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Question is Ron, any chance you'll be creating a working neon sign? These have perhaps been viewed already however some fine details of the inside of the station in it's later years from this chap. http://www.flickr.co.../tags/cheshire/ Edited December 13, 2011 by Bob-65b
Ron Heggs
Question is Ron, any chance you'll be creating a working neon sign? Hi, Bob If it can be done i will do it, including the outline white neons around the 'BRITISH RAILWAYS' signs Cheers Ron
woodenhead
LEDs arranged in a line should provide a look of a white neon light
Ron Heggs
LEDs arranged in a line should provide a look of a white neon light Thanks for your suggestion - but a bit on the thick side for scale - the neon tubing needs to be nearer 8 to 10 thou to scale size Ron
woodenhead
Then my next suggestion would be a fibre optic, can't really get thinner than a hair - though many women have tried.
