Waverley West
Hi Dave. I am enjoying the video's keep them coming. Cheers Peter. Thanks Peter, I was wondering what everyone thought of them. Still not the best quality but much better than my previous attempts I think. Must try some using my daughter's iPhone.

Waverley West
Judging by the number of locos on shed is there a strike going on? It was a Sunday, lms, so not many services were running. Too many locos, who me? Surely not. Every single one is absolutely essential.
P.C.M
Thanks Peter, I was wondering what everyone thought of them. Still not the best quality but much better than my previous attempts I think. Must try some using my daughter's iPhone. No worries, some of my early ones where from my old iphone 4s which I still think was better than my old video camera. I Like the last shot must be about 20 locos on shed. Cheers Peter.

TexChem
Freezers fist law of model railways - "Every Modeler will have twice as many locomotives as he needs, and half as many as he wants" Jim I have never seen this before, but it is so, so true. Grampus
Gracious me. Whatever I might think about Sprinters, I think your picture of the '150 is probably your most lifelike yet. There is absolutely nothing to suggest, to me at least, that it is a model. Absolutely fantastic - inspirational even. Thank you for showing us. Best wishes, Paul

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2018 A closer aerial view. Just the one, helicopter hire is expensive. Move the layout forward a few decades and you won't need to use a helo as you could use a drone. Serously, I agree that the image of the Sprinter is stunning and I have looked at it time and time again, and can see no clues that it is a model - I'd need to measure the track gauge to be sure. RMweb Gold MarshLane Posted February 2, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 2, 2018 Absolutely fabulous as ever. Personally think the videos came out really well. If you use an iPhone (one of the best for video regardless of the model in my view) position it so the lens is at the bottom, allows you to get lower and closer to track level which just improves the realism. Keep going to! Rich
Popular Post Waverley West
Three of WW's Large Logo Scottish-based 47/4s bask in the afternoon sunshine at Haymarket MPD, 47636, 47517 and 47563. BR Blue 47550 can just be seen peeking out of the shed. A close-up of 47563... These locos are now undergoing bogie modifications to reduce their tendency to derail on sight ridges in my trackwork (slight, Dave? Not so sure about that). This involves filing down the centre axle housing by 1-1.5mm. Because of the presence of the cogwheel on the axle, it doesn't enable the axle to float like a Heljan centre axle, but it does enable some side play in the axle to cope with imperfections in the track. Initial trials on four locos have so far proved pretty successful, so I will probably repeat it on all my Bachmann 47s. citadel12003
Hi Tom, Great to hear from you again and thanks for your kind comments. I'm looking forward to our next expedition too, they're always such good craic. Colm told me about Bleach Green. Shame in a way, but at least it seems to have gone to a good home. Maybe see you in Glasgow? Cheers for now, Dave Hi Dave, Yes, I'll be in Glasgow with some of my local Club members on the Saturday (one day only this year sadly!!) Let me know when you're there and, if Saturday, we might meet for a quick catch-up. Cheers, Tom

RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted February 23, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 23, 2018 Magnificent results in the BMR awards Dave. Very well deserved and its certainly not bad to be a close second to Copenhagen Fields or Tony Wright. The cheque hasn't arrived, I assume it's in the post? Very well deserved and its certainly not bad to be a close second to Copenhagen Fields or Tony Wright. The cheque hasn't arrived, I assume it's in the post? Many thanks, Colin. You're too kind. I was surprised but very honoured to be tucked in second place behind both Copenhagen Fields and Tony W. I'm just glad I created enough aliases and voted for myself enough times to squeeze into second place. Seriously though, a huge thanks to everyone who voted for me. I'm off to Glasgow tomorrow to catch up with friends both old and new. Only one sleep to go now. I haven't had any modelling time at all recently partly due to work commitments and partly because I've been away on holiday. I often find that a modelling break saps the momentum, so hopefully MRS tomorrow will rekindle some of that. It usually does. Cheers for now and hope to be back soon. In the meantime, here's a quick photo taken while the sun shone this afternoon, as 47641 Fife Region returns to Haymarket after some bogie modifications. There's some unusual stock in the East Yard too, with 24081 and an 03 visiting, along with a Petroleum sector 47. Note to self: must get round to straightening that light tower above the 03. Dave PS Of course the cheque's in the post. I posted it at the same time as I posted Stewart's. Edited February 23, 2018 by Waverley West

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted February 25, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2018 Great achievement there, Dave, and justly gained as your many followers will agree - this and Peterborough North are without a doubt my favourite diesel and steam offerings on here, and as I had only one vote, it went to you this year, as Gilbert got it last year. My bank details will be supplied in request for your remittance. However, I can't let you have them yet as I have just lent them to a guy from Nigeria who has £8m to split with me, and I have to participate, as I wish to buy a layout as good as WW without the work. Cheers Stewart

Cheers Stewart Thanks Stewart. That's very kind. I wonder whether it's the same guy from Nigeria who has promised to help me buy three rakes of Bachmann's Mk 2f's, plus several DBSOs, when they eventually come out. All he wanted in return was my bank details so that he could transfer some money to an elderly relative who desparately needed it apparently. He sounds like a very nice man. Popular Post Waverley West
Hi folks, Well, I'm back from another very enjoyable MRS show in Glasgow and feeling suitably enthused. it was great to catch up with friends old and new. Time is still a bit limited unfortunately, but I have managed to resume work on 150001. This has now had all cab door handrails fitted along with blank doors awaiting the cutting-out of windows. Not much to report otherwise, so here are a few photos in the meantime to entertain people... A haulage basher arrives at Waverley behind 27052... Meanwhile over at Haymarket MPD, various locos are on shed including 27034... 47517, 47555, 47546 and 60009... Bob the mechanical foreman is at his desk in his office... Over in the amenity block the admin staff are hard at work into the evening, with various meetings under way... The Mound Tunnels, Waverley West's red light district... Hope to be back soon with more developments. Cutting out the windows on 150001's cab doors is next on the list. The bodies will then be more or less complete and it will be on to the underframe of the centre car. Cheers for now,Dave Edited February 28, 2018 by Waverley West
