FPH 603
If you have chopped up a 150/2 the doors are the same as 001The 150/2 subclass has cab end gangways, and Mr Waverley West has chopped up a 150/1. EDIT: As for those cab doors, they could be built from Plasticard, although this would require lots of cutting out and filling in. 37114
Good job with the 150/1. I suppose with the spare chassis and body bits you could make a what might have been class 150 bubble car....

Yes, it's a 150/1 I've cut up. I'm currently wondering whether I can use the cab doors from the scrap ends as a basis for the cab doors in 150001. In other news, work on the trailer car is continuing. Much filling, sanding, priming and more sanding later, can you spot the join...? Waverley West
Is it possible to use half of a double door for the cab doors? It's definitely a possibility russ, although my current thinking is to use the doors from the scrap cab ends.

Waverley47708
Well, I've made a start now. There's no turning back... Centre car 1.jpg The 1/3 and 2/3 body length cuts were made adjacent to the door seals, so the join down the bodysides should be pretty much invisible. The join over the roof will of course not be so easy to hide, but hopefully some filler should fix that. My attempts to explain to Mrs WW last night why I was cutting up two perfectly good trains to make one train left her completely non-plussed. Honestly, the mixed-up logic of non-believers. Cheers for now, Dave[/quote Must confess was a bit troubled recently to see a Class 150 on your layout, so I was delighted tonight to see you had chopped one up. Only to be disappointed to read you'd chopped it up to make a new longer one!

Only to be disappointed to read you'd chopped it up to make a new longer one! Fear not, Calum, DMUs will always be a side show on WW, necessary to recreate the station in the '80s. As I mentioned before... The takeover by the 150s pretty much marks the end of the period covered by WW. I might stretch to one of Bachmann's new 158s when they eventually arrive though and a Realtrack 156 in Regional Railways livery (EDIT: and/or Strathclyde orange) too. Loco haulage will forever remain dominant on WW though. That includes short rakes of Mk 1s and 2s on local services substituting for ailing or absent DMUs too! Waverley West
Hi folks, Just a quick pitstop update on 150001 which is progressing well. The trailer car body is nearing completion, with the roof seam, where the join is, made pretty much invisible and all evidence of the roof water tank hatch and associated gubbins removed. A new fullsize window has also been inserted in the bodyside to replace the small toilet window, shown here on the right-hand side... On the driving cars, all the doorways have now been opened up and just need finishing off, ready for the doors themselves to be fitted, once I've worked out exactly how I'm going to do it. The top corners of the doorways need to be rounded, rather than square as shown here. The handrails have been removed and filled in, ready for sanding. In other news, 150259 is also now ready for service and the Transclyde 107 is progressing well, with the roof currently being resprayed. The underframes are finished so all that needs doing now is renumbering and a bit of weathering. Must post some pics of some locos for all the locoholics on here, just in case you're getting withdrawal symptoms. Cheers for now Dave Edited November 28, 2017 by Waverley West

Waverley West
Here' s a question for all you DMU buffs out there - what colour was the grey on 150001 in its original Provincial livery? In most photos, it looks to me like Rail Grey, but I have read, and in a few photos it does look like, it is Executive Light Grey. Is it a different colour to that used in the standard Provincial livery that followed on the production versions?? In these, it looks to me like Rail Grey: https://www.flickr.com/photos/117983829@N03/16152866476/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/60390222@N05/24793175766/ while in this one it looks more Executive Light Grey: https://www.flickr.com/photos/86020500@N06/8053474043/ Any help would be much appreciated before I get out the airbrush and it's too late!! Dmudriver
Hi Dave. Whilst my era is blue and blue/grey, I've found these references for you: http://www.doublearrow.co.uk/regional_railways.htm http://www.doublearrow.co.uk/sheets/RR_Design_Elements_Insert_2.jpg The colours are Pantone: the website is https://store.pantone.com/uk/en/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIodCbkork1wIVq53tCh3f-g9SEAAYASAAEgJxSfD_BwE Unfortunately, when you search for the 2 colours 425 and 5455 (top right hand corner), you get a number of different shades, depending on the suffix. However, hope this is helpful. Rod PS It's now got me thinking of an 0 gauge 101 in "Reggie Rail" livery!!

RMweb Premium JDW Posted December 1, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 1, 2017 Hi Dave. The Regional Railways scheme post-dates the Provincial scheme which 150001 wore when it was new, so those documents don't answer the question about the lower bodysides - Provincial/"Sprinter" liveries had a fawn colour, the later similar Regional Railways scheme replaced this with a silver-grey as in those documents. They are, however, a very interesting read, and examples of excellent and well considered corporate design, in the same way as the original BR identity and the Railfreight sector brandings which are very popular at the minute. One thing which caught my eye was the comments about the design being restrained, as this is a sign of quality...
Popular Post Waverley West
Hi folks, Not a huge amount to report due to life getting in the way recently. The Transclyde 107 is now complete but the interior lights don't seem to be working at the moment, so it's been returned to the works for attention. With the nights really drawing in now, I managed to nip down to the station last night to see what was about... Here I am, arriving on a loco-hauled DMU substitute service from Fife behind 47102. I'm able to take photographs of myself back in the '80s now thanks to some fiendish modifications to my space-time displacement machine. 47636 was waiting time in Platform 15 ready to depart for Inverness... Not much more has been done on 150001 since my last confession, as I've been concentrating on finishing off the 107. The driver's cab doorways are now finished though, so the next job will be to fit the handrails and then come up with a good solution for the doors themselves. Then it will be on to some serious chassis cutting to produce the chassis for the centre car. Happy modelling one and all! Cheers Dave Edited December 13, 2017 by Waverley West
