Afternoon all

As mentioned over on the Tidworth thread I dashed over to Exford Park to capture the last running of the annual  'Network Santa Circular' railtour.

I was just in time to catch a scruffy 47706 with the inbound ecs from Laira.

A while later the 'Network Santa Circular III' appeared under the bridge with 50019 & 50031 at the sharp end. The tour was to head as usual to Leaford and Leaford High Level before a reversal to run through the yard at Beresford Junction. The then planned run through 'Death Bridge' was cancelled due to missing track panels in the area (same problem last year at Redbrook!) but a very late phone call meant the tour would visit new territory later in the day.

Ramilies and Hood prepare to take the junction through Exford Park station and on to Salisbury.

The driver hits the power and accelerates through the station.

What else but Temeraire brings up the rear for the reversals!

This is the last running of the tour organised by the 'Leaford off the road crew' as Exford Park is due to move out/on in the early part of next year. However, the newly formed 'Tidworth on the road crew' are in the early stages of planning a similar tour next Christmas.

To all that have looked, admired, poked fun or advised over this and previous years on this thread many thanks and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope to meet some of you on the road with Tidworth.

PS Look out later for a further tour update!

PPS I forgot to say that you can find the previous two railtours on page 28 post #682 and page 37 post #913.

Along with Hampshire Hog we had a visit to Exford Park before the suspension of services, and was invited to bring whatever stock I wanted.  So we have some pictures of how Exford would look in present times.

A big thank you to Temeraire for letting us loose on his superb layout (will sure miss this one).

Yes a great layout. I was lucky enough to see it twice and play trains. It ran very well and it was great to see class 33s and 50s storming past the depot on Exeter - waterloo trains.

The 66s and First Great Western HSTs don't look out of place either. The HSTs look pretty good in that Livery.

Thanks for posting up the pics Nigel.

Cheers Peter.

Evening all,

It is with some saddness that I must declare Exford Park closed for business until further notice.

Today I removed and packed up all the remaining stock still left on the layout in preparation for the removal of the baseboards from the loft and into storage for the time being. I hope that at some point in the future to be able to reassemble it and complete the unfinished parts of the layout and improve what has already been done or maybe build another layout to suit what space I have at that time using the parts from Exford, only the future will tell.

Thanks to all of you that have looked in and offered advice or praise during Exford Park's development and maybe it will be seen again here sometime in the future but in the meantime I still have Tidworth to keep me busy!
