EBay madness

Listing ended. Slightly vague descriptions and abrupt end make you wonder if this was a load of knocked-off stuff, a la poor Jenny Emily of this parish. Perhaps a collar has been felt somewhere!

He's got a good line in talking it up that we may see from some of our 'favourite' sellers in the not too distant future?

"I saw a similar collection, but half the size sell for £3,000"

Can't fault the start price but:

'The loco is in mint condition.'

Mint? I thought these were originally sold as a complete unit with tender.

'It runs smoothly in both directions. It is engine driven as opposed to being pushed by a motorised tender.'

Well obviously, it wouldn't have run at all if it had been tender driven.

'very hard to find locomotive especially in this condition.'

True...

Ps: Orginally sold under the brand name of Replica, not Bachmann, But that's just a minor quibble.

I may not be the brightest on here - but if this is made by Dapol, why does the box say Replica Railways?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-MODEL-No-11012-LNER-B1-Class-4-6-0-SPRINGBOK-LOCO-TENDER-VN-MIB-/271200839592?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f24d467a8

IIRC there was some involvement by Dapol but that was purely financial.  The initial releases of B1 had some inserts to the effect that 'we gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Dapol in this project'.  I always understood it was along the lines of Replica didn't have the cashflow to fund the 1st production batch after having invested in the design/tooling etc and that Dapol lent them some dosh as a bridging loan.  Apologies if I have this wrong.

There is even a BIN for £9, so why pay twice that?

At first I thought that it was a little expensive for a B/L Multibox but then noticed it's only the Extension for the Multibox! What's surprising is that someone has actually brought one! There's someone in Westbury who will sell you one for £7.25 plus £2.25 postage. I guess there's a price for impatience and in this case it's £10.  :O
