True.

That never occurred to me; I suppose because I wouldn't dream of doing that.

Edit: whoa there, it ain't ended yet. 1h 30min to go.

Some people do back out when they realise that even though they wanted the item, they didn't want to spend quite that amount of wonga on an item.

But it just shows the benefit to a seller of a sensible starting price (£99) and then let the market do its thing!

Good grief!

I saw the round number and assumed it was a daft buy-it-now price.

Looks as if two bidders have got it up from £250 to £500.

A seller in Inverness - so should know better.

37 413 Loch Eil being advertised as Lock Eli

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ViTrains-V2035-Class-37-BR-Large-Logo-37413-Lock-Eli-Outward-Bound-/292027730299?hash=item43fe35897b:g:ARwAAOSwTuJYogdJ

Wrong in both the title and the description, so can't even claim a typo. Also my other pet hate, why oh why do people use out of focus blurred photos when they're trying to sell something

Item closed this evening and I was the winner :sungum:

Before I bid, I could see that there was only 1 other bidder, with it still sitting at it's opening price of £60, but they had made three bids. In other words, upping their maximum bid price.

I was therefore expecting the final price to be quite high as I was clearly up against someone who badly wanted it. I was surprised therefore to win at just £64.50. On reviewing the bids after, my competitor had made an opening bid at the list price of £60. An hour later they thought they better increase this, which they did by a whole £2.

Then 10 minutes later, they must have thought that's not enough and they raised their stake by a whole 50 pence!

Interesting. What happens if someone puts in a bid expecting a Hall and gets Eton or vice versa?
