EBay madness

Yes I notice this comment by the seller, the calculation of the feedback stars is speculative, he should not worry about 4 stars, rarely are they given, but he is going the right way to reduce his ratings entirely due to his method of listing, including the complaining tone, and no photos.....methinks a self inflicted wound.

Definetly a self inflicted wound waiting to happen, when I had bought something from this vendor I got the same speil via email and it made me scrutinise and think about feedback and ratings alot more than I usually do

£94.50 with 5 days to go? For a piece of plastic in garish colours? Collectors, surely. I know an RMWebber spent a lot of effort getting one of these painted a few months back, but I'm sure even he wouldn't have valued his time at this sort of price! EDIT http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/9799-glasgow-george-square/page__st__50

Sheesh!

Don't worry folks - with two large auctions over the weekend and the dealer buyers out in force there'll be loads of entertainment in the coming week; it will be worth keeping a lookout for some nice looking Ks kits plus a GEM ex LNW 4-6-0 on a Hornby chassis which had been inadvertently advertised as 'scratch built', oh and a few more Hornby Blue P'manswink.gif

Sheesh!

Also the P&P will cost you more as well as they have gone over £36 but you won't know how much until the auction is over.

Another one with the word rare, pretty sure it is not as it is one of the more regular old GEM offerings on ebay, amusing BIN price as one just went for £26.35

This is the same 'dealer' that has had this load of old rubbish priced at £50, repeatedly up for maybe two years now! I would have thought that he'd have realized by now that no one could possibly want such a thing and chuck it in the bin!

I've actually got one of these old 'Gaiety' pieces of junk. Perhaps I should put it up as BIN @0.99p!

It's really about time Replica dusted of the dies and fired up their injection moulding machine and brought the PCV back into production. I remember reading somewhere that it was very unlikely that they were going to do that as they were focusing on other projects, but my long time project to model a Railnet terminal is going to need at least 4 of these and I can't afford these prices! I knew I should have got my hands on some when they first came out.

I recall they had a bunch of "seconds" on sale at warley a long with chassis, bogies and wheels, maybe worth a call to them

Also £175 for a LMS 57' coach with no photo etc, it must be museum quality for that price.

This listing seems rather good, but the photo worries me a little bit... yes the advertised product is in the photo, but it's in the back ground, and not the subject!

Could someone explain to me what the hell is going on here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item27b82d4462

Apart from the lack of pictures (dumb, really dumb) there seems to be some strange spiel about if you give him four stars on feedback instead of five he will get thrown off Ebay?

His lack of punctuation is disturbing, too - he says he works nights, so maybe insomnia has led to a phobia of capitalisation...

Does Ebay really throw sellers out if they dip below 99.3% approval? Has the rating system really been that devalued? What's the point of a star system if a seller demands top marks? Twonk.

The 'negatives' in his feedback might have a bigger influence with Ebay , than his '4 out 5' claims...

At least there's a description for that, if no photo. But what about this, then: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/triang-horrnby-loco-coach-spare-parts-/170593693733?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27b82d3025 ? Whatever could that be? (I won't be trying to find out, for sure!) Or, of course, there's the old empty box...

Perhaps they should realise that those percentages are based on the proportion of positive feedback, rather than the star ratings. Their negative feedback tells a lot about this seller.

Someone must have nudged him, and we now at least have a relevant picture for the item. Giving us the wisdom of vehicle type, numbers etc is still beyond the wit of this man - who'd need to know, anyway?

'Never been used on track' - I now no longer believe this statement...

This one is having a laugh

Do serious collectors actually collect things in BR blue - surely one of the low eras in British railway design? Building a layout set in that era because the operations were interesting is one thing, but rows of blue thingies on yer shelf? Crikey.
