The Fall & Rise of the 60's ( was The End of the Tugs?)

Recommended Posts

Small world eh Dan?

Seems like 074 was your pet for a couple of days. It was good to hear the 60 thunder past, here's hoping to it perhaps happening a little more often...yeah right!

I don't suppose you can shed any light on Shaun the Sheep hitching a lift on the front? 60074 wasn't missing Margam that much was it?

cheers

I haven't a clue Jo - when it rolled into Westbury, I didn't even notice it was there! :)

4M00 Mossend-Clitheroe cement empties (4S00 loaded return). Although with the extra 60's about, we can hope!

Cheers,

60013 has moved up North to Warrington for the Liverpool Bulk Terminal-Fiddlers Ferry diagram.

Im in Warrington today and tomorrow, does anyone know what times could I possibly see it on the coal working?

I know one runs past Warrington at 11.30am but what other times does the working pass?

Lewis

On Saturday it's 11:58 off the LBT it should pass WBQ around 07:30 in the morning on it's way to the bulk and should travel low level to Fiddlers, arriving around 15:15, having run round at Latchford first.

Hi

Thanks for the reply :)

Do you mean it will leave LBT at 7.30 and pass WBQ at 11.58?

If it left LBT at 11.58 and pass at WBQ at 7.30 in the morning it would leave LBT at 11.58pm the previous night to pass WBQ at 7.30am?. Is the train running today past WBQ in the evening between 5pm-6pm?

no mate, it passes WBQ at 07:30 heading towards (ie Northbound through the station) the bulk, and then leaves the bulk at 11:58 heading back to Fiddlers, but doesn't pass the station as it's booked low level - of course this may all change on the day.

60013 is heading to the bulk as I type so should be back later B)

Hi

Today I visited Warrington Arpley to see 60013 on the Liverpool Bulk Terminal- Fiddlers Ferry coal diagram due to pass Arpley at 17.10. I arrived at 16.50 and took pictures of the locos stabled at Arpley yard, these being 56018 and 66060. Then I turned to see 66166 depart with an engineers train from Bank Quay only to see stabled at Bank Quay station 60059 with the LBT-FFPS HTA hoppers in the place of the anticipated 60013! B) . So I rushed to the station to see Tug59 and half an hour later when I left it was still stabled(by now 20 minutes late). Overall a good trip :)

Here are some pictures of 60059

Hi Alex

Cheers, yeah I noticed that the buffers looked clean and new, maybe they are as the only locos that operate the LBT-FFPS workings -59s and 60s- are buffer fitted so demand for the buffer fitted HTAs has increased. When I model a 60 HTA hauled train, adding buffers to the leading wagon is an essential detail, and my photos today will help me with modelling them B) .

Also 60013 was at Manchester Ship Canal sidings according to one of the fellow enthusiasts at WBQ today, couldnt see it to photograph though :( .

Here is another picture showing the HTA buffers

60059 worked 6Z40 Milford - Warrington today. And yes, 4 more HTAs have recently been fitted with buffers for the restart of traffic from LBT. The original 6 conversions are now in use on the New Cumnock to Earles coal.
