I was only going to catch it at Helsby, but I could see the sun was out over North Wales so I headed there. Trying to walk across those fields was a nightmare!! And yes It was Baltic......But at least we some sun on the subject!

Very nice shot :sungum:

Hi Guys,

thought I'd share a few pics of some recent(ish) Tug workings from around the Solent area. It's been really good to see the 60's getting out and about more around the South, and long may it continue! It'd be quite nice to get some of the "celebrity" ones down here, such as the TCT Blue one or the TaTa Steel Silver one.

First up is 60019 "Port of Grimsby & Immingham" at Eastleigh on 3rd November with 0Z37 L/E move from Westbury to Eastleigh. Took me by surprise when it turned up! It later left on a hefty load of 3 Salmon as 6Z37 back to Westbury.

Unfortunatley not a very good picture due to the light and my iffy photo skills, but 60015 passes Lee, between Millbrook and Romsey, with 6V41 Eastleigh - Westbury engineers on 13th November.

For the second time this year, a Tug worked the Fawley oil trip and it was the same loco too! The gen that morning said that a Tug was to work the Marchwood MOD trip, but due to insuficient traffic it didn't run. Instead 60091 turned up on the 6B93 Eastleigh - Fawley and 6B94 return working. I wasn't complaining!

Tug '91 is first seen at Pooksgreen, outside Marchwood, with the working to Fawley before being captured again on the return at Millbrook on 29th November.

I realised I haven't posted to here for a while, here's some of the older ones since he last update. I'll add some more recent ones later. Mostly the usual DB red with the Murco tanks, but a wee bit of variety here and there. The first two were on a week off work, as the weather goes to show....

60007 passes Pig Lane near Hullavington working 6B33 Theale - Robeston 26/9/12

60007 passes Bourton on the approach to Swindon working 6B33 Theale - Robeston 27/9/12

60007 approaches Hullavington loop working 6B33 Theale - Margam 6/10/12

60079 passes Acton Turville working 6B33 Theale - Margam 20/10/12

60054 passes East Usk yard in Newport with 6E66 Margam - Scunthorpe steel empties 26/10/12

60045 passes East Usk yard in Newport with what is thought to be 6M41 Margam - Round Oak, though both loco and wagons were swapped at Llanwern! 26/10/12

Over three years since the thread was started - I think it's fair to say there's been a real class 60 resurgence in that. I remember wondering if I'd photographed my last 60 back in 2009...

Anyway, here's a few from November

IMG_5057-60063-6E48-L.jpg

60063 and 60011 provide the sight of two 60s at Hinksey. 60011 is the current 'super shunter' and 60063 is working 6E48 Didcot power station - Lindsey, having brought heavy oil into the power station over night. The 10 tanks in tow hardly tax the power of the class 60 8/11/12

IMG_5075-60011-L.jpg

60011 moves off to shunt the yard at Hinksey 8/11/12

IMG_5140-60092-L.jpg

60092, fresh from overhaul at Toton but not yet repainted, sits at Westerleigh prior to working 6E41 to Lindsey. Of note are the EWS maroon door and the primer green cooler group 17/11/12

IMG_5153-60079-6B13-L.jpg

60079 arrives at Westerleigh with 6B13 from Robeston 17/11/12

IMG_5163-60092-6E41-L.jpg

60092 finally departs Westerleigh with 6E41 to Lindsey. The loco has been refurbished at Toton by DB, but hasn't yet gained the bright red paint work 17/11/12

IMG_5251-60019-7C54-L.jpg

60019 passes Chippenham working 7C54 Oxford Banbury Road - Whatley 23/11/12

As ever these photos and more are here on better resolution

Some Quality pics there Ewsjo, really like the first one at hinksey, could be a DBS publicity shot or something. is 60011 the one thats had a repaint but not a refurb, as it looks a bit claggy in your second pic. good stuff.

Thanks Chris, yeah 011 has had electrical mods and repaint but no overhaul. 099 has had the mechanical mods and repaint but no overhaul, both acting as testbeds for the overhaul program. The loco had only just been started up, so was quite cold, but still 011 does seem to clag a bit

Just taken a look through your pages jo, some very nice photos.

Does anyone have a list/link to web page or similar which details the current state of the 60 fleet?  Seems to me a fair few are now utilised quite heavily so it got me thinking how many have been overhauled, how many are now red, how many more will be overhauled etc.

Position changes almost on a daily basis. 60 020 latest to reappear in next couple of days. 60 044/96/100 are to be moved from Cornwall ready for conversion to 'super' 60.

Regular updates appear here
